Originally known as the "IIFA Award for Fresh Face of the Year (Female)", it was officially given its new title in 2005. During its inaugural year in 2001, four separate actresses were presented with an award.

The 2008 IIFA Awards, officially known as the 9th International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the International Indian Film Academy honoured the best films of 2007 and took place between 6 – 8 June 2008. The official ceremony took place on 8 June 2008, at the Siam Paragon in Bangkok, Thailand. During the ceremony, IIFA Awards were awarded in 27 competitive categories. The ceremony was televised in India and internationally on Star Plus. Actors Boman Irani and Ritesh Deshmukh co-hosted the ceremony for the first time.

The official ceremony took place on 9 June 2007, at the Hallam FM Arena in Sheffield, England. During the ceremony, IIFA Awards were awarded in 29 competitive categories. The ceremony was televised in India and internationally on Star Plus. Actors Boman Irani and Lara Dutta co–hosted the ceremony – the first time.

Juhi Chaturvedi is an Indian screenwriter who works in Hindi films. An advertising professional based in Mumbai, Chaturvedi has written scripts for Bollywood films such as Vicky Donor (2012), Piku (2015), October (2018) and Gulabo Sitabo (2020).
