Intelsat V F-2, then named Intelsat 502, was a communications satellite operated by COMSAT. Launched in 1980, it was the first of fifteen Intelsat V satellites to be launched. The Intelsat V series was constructed by Ford Aerospace, based on the Intelsat V satellite bus. Intelsat V F-2 was part of an advanced series of satellites designed to provide greater telecommunications capacity for INTELSAT's global network.
The satellite was box-shaped, measuring 1.66 by 2.1 by 1.77 metres; solar arrays spanned 15.9 metres tip to tip. The arrays, supplemented by nickel-hydrogen batteries during an eclipse, provided 1800 watts of power at mission onset of its seven-year design life. The payload housed 21 C-band and 4 Ku-band transponders. It could accommodate 15,000 two-way voice circuits and two TV channels simultaneously. It had a launch mass of 1928 kg. [2] In December 1992, the satellite enabled a direct link between United States and the Somalia. The satellite was deactivated on 14 April 1998. [3]
The satellite was successfully launched into space on 6 December 1980, at 23:31:00 UTC, by means of an Atlas SLV-3D Centaur-D1AR vehicle from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, United States.
The Communications Technology Satellite (CTS), known as Hermes, was an experimental high-power direct broadcast communications satellite. It was a joint effort of Canadian Department of Communications, who designed and built the satellite, NASA who tested, launched and operated the satellite, and European Space Agency (ESA) who provided the 1200 watts solar panels and other devices. Landsat 8 is an American Earth observation satellite launched on 11 February 2013. It is the eighth satellite in the Landsat program; the seventh to reach orbit successfully. The OSIRIS-REx is a NASA asteroid study and sample-return mission. The mission's primary goal is to obtain a sample of at least 60 grams (2.1 oz) from 101955 Bennu, a carbonaceous near-Earth asteroid, and return the sample to Earth for a detailed analysis. The material returned is expected to enable scientists to learn more about the formation and evolution of the Solar System, its initial stages of planet formation, and the source of organic compounds that led to the formation of life on Earth. If successful, OSIRIS-REx will be the first U.S. spacecraft to return samples from an asteroid.

IRS-1A, the first of the series of indigenous state-of-art remote sensing satellites, was successfully launched into a polar sun-synchronous orbit on 17 March 1988 from the Soviet Cosmodrome at Baikonur. IRS-1A carries three cameras, LISS-1, LISS-2A and LISS-2B with resolutions of 72.5 metres (238 ft) and 36.25 metres (118.9 ft) respectively with a swath width of about 140 kilometres (87 mi) during each pass over the country. Landsat 9 is a planned Earth observation satellite, scheduled for launch on 8 April 2021. NASA is in charge of building, launching, and testing the system, while the United States Geological Survey (USGS) will process, archive, and distribute its data. It will be the eighth satellite in the Landsat series, as Landsat 6 failed to reach orbit. As of May 2020, United Launch Alliance is planning for a Spring 2021 launch on an Atlas V 401 rocket, which will lift off from Space Launch Complex-3E at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The Critical Design Review (CDR) was completed by NASA on April 2018, and Orbital ATK was given the go-ahead to manufacture the satellite.
