Jackson Lee (born September 6, 2002) is an American racing driver. [1] He currently competes in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge for Czabok-Simpson Motorsport. [2] [3] [4]

Racing record

Quarter midgets and karts 2010-2019

Lee began racing in quarter midgets at seven years old, mostly at Mini Indy at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis and added karting in 2013, predominantly in regional events at New Castle Motorsports Park. [5]

Formula Cars 2018–Present

In 2018, Lee won a partial scholarship in the Lucas Oil School of Racing Shootout at Sebring International Raceway. [6]

2019 Lucas Oil Formula Car Series/FRP F1600 Championship

Lee won the first race of the season at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course and led the championship [7] near the midpoint of the season [8] before finishing 4th with 2 wins and 6 podiums. [9] He also competed in a weekend for Rice Race Prep in FRP F1600 at Summit Point which included 2nd and 4th place finishes.

2020 FRP F1600 Championship/Team USA Scholarship

Lee joined Rice Race Prep for the 2020 F1600 Championship [10] and was sitting 2nd in points with 2 wins and 7 straight podiums [11] when he was named as Team USA Scholarship winner [12] which prompted a switch to BRSCC National Formula Ford 1600 in England. The program with Low Dempsey Racing included a podium in the heat race [13] and 10th place finish in the Formula Ford Festival Grand Final at Brands Hatch. [14] The Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone included a 4th place finish in the heat race but a DNF after contact in the Grand Final. [15]

2021 USF 2000, #8 Browning Chapman for Jay Howard Driver Development

Lee was the highest points finisher for JHDD [16] in his rookie season in the Road to Indy [17] with a best finish of 9th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the fastest race lap in race 2 at Mid Ohio. He competed in 15 of the 18 races.

2022 USF 2000, #2 IU Simon Cancer Center/Browning Chapman/Race for RP with Cape Motorsports

After posting the 2nd quickest lap in the 2021 post-season open test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Lee signed with Cape Motorsports for 2022. [18] The season included a 7th place finish in the opening weekend at St. Petersburg and top 10 finishes at Barber Motorsports Park and Mid Ohio before extensive crash damage ended the season with 5 events remaining.

2023 USF Pro 2000, #47 IU Simon Cancer Center/Browning Chapman/Prime 47 for Turn 3 Motorsport

Lee moved up a step in 2023 to race for former Indy Lights race winner Peter Dempsey and Turn 3 Motorsport for a partial season. A 5th place finish at Sebring [19] and a top 10 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course event were the highlights.

Sports Cars 2023–Present

2023 TC America TCX, #808 IU Simon Cancer Center/Hays+Sons Restoration BMW M2 for AOA Racing

Lee made his sports car debut during the Indy 8 Hour event in October at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He raced for AOA Racing in TC America in the top TCX class. He was fastest in the only practice [20] and finished 7th and 4th in the two races after qualifying 6th. [21]

Personal Life

Jackson is the son of longtime NBC Sports announcer and IndyCar Series broadcaster Kevin Lee. [22] He is studying Motorsports Engineering at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. [23]

The 2023 Firestone Indy NXT Series was the 36th season of the Indy NXT open wheel motor racing series and the 21st sanctioned by IndyCar, acting as the primary support series for the IndyCar Series. Known as Indy Lights before 2023, the championship was rebranded following its acquisition by Penske Entertainment, the owner of the IndyCar Series, in 2022.
