Jacobsenia is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Aizoaceae. [1]
It is native to the Cape Provinces in the South African Republic. [1]
The genus name of Jacobsenia is in honour of Hermann Jacobsen (1898–1978), a German gardener and botanist. He was also curator and supervisor at a botanical garden in Kiel and specialist in succulents. [2] It was first described and published Kakteen And. Sukk. Vol.5 on page 69 in 1954. [1]

The Aizoaceae, or fig-marigold family, is a large family of dicotyledonous flowering plants containing 135 genera and about 1800 species. They are commonly known as ice plants or carpet weeds. They are often called vygies in South Africa and New Zealand. Highly succulent species that resemble stones are sometimes called mesembs.
