The Parliament of Finland is the unicameral and supreme legislature of Finland,founded on 9 May 1906. In accordance with the Constitution of Finland,sovereignty belongs to the people,and that power is vested in the Parliament. The Parliament consists of 200 members,199 of whom are elected every four years from 13 multi-member districts electing 6 to 37 members using the proportional D'Hondt method. In addition,there is one member from Åland.
Matti Taneli Vanhanen is a Finnish politician who served as Prime Minister of Finland from 2003 to 2010. He was also Chairman of the Centre Party in 2006. In his earlier career,he was a journalist. Vanhanen is the son of professor Tatu Vanhanen and Anni Tiihonen.

In accordance with her party's position on the issue,she quit the cabinet in protest of the government's decision to build a fifth nuclear power plant in Finland. Hassi served as the leader of her party between 1999 and 2001. She was a member of the national parliament from 1991 to 2004;she left the parliament when she was elected to the European Parliament as the sole Finnish Green representative in the 2004 election.

The district was established as Oulu Province South in 1907 when the Diet of Finland was replaced by the Parliament of Finland. It was renamed Oulu Province in 1939 and Oulu in 1997. It is conterminous with the regions of Kainuu and North Ostrobothnia. The district currently elects 18 of the 200 members of the Parliament of Finland using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2023 parliamentary election it had 393,643 registered electors.

He is known by the nickname "The Parliament Terrier".
Anna-Maja Kristina Henriksson is a Swedish-speaking Finnish politician. She has served as Finland's Minister of Justice,in Jyrki Katainen's cabinet and Alexander Stubb's cabinet from 2011 to 2015,Antti Rinne's cabinet from June to December 2019 and in Sanna Marin's cabinet from December 2019 to June 2023. Henriksson was recorded to have been the country's longest-serving Minister of Justice.

Mats Löfström is a Finnish politician representing Åland Centre. Löfström is the single member of parliament for the autonomous region of Åland in the Parliament of Finland. He was an Åland Centre party candidate to the Finnish Parliament on the Åland Coalition list at the 2015 Finnish parliamentary election. Löfström was elected,replacing Elisabeth Nauclér as the single representative of Åland in the Finnish Parliament. Löfström was re-elected in 2019 and 2023.
Savo-Karelia is one of the 13 electoral districts of the Parliament of Finland,the national legislature of Finland. The district was established in 2013 by the merger of North Karelia and North Savo districts. It is conterminous with the regions of North Karelia and North Savo. The district currently elects 15 of the 200 members of the Parliament of Finland using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2023 parliamentary election it had 343,887 registered electors.
Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 14 April 2019. For the first time,no party received more than 20% of the vote. The Centre Party,which had been the largest party following the 2015 elections,dropped to fourth place,losing 18 seats and recording its lowest vote share since 1917. The Social Democratic Party saw the biggest gains,winning six more seats and narrowly becoming the largest party for the first time since 1999. The Green League and the Left Alliance also gained five and four seats respectively.

Krista Johanna Mikkonen is a Finnish politician of the Green League,a member of parliament,and Finland's Minister of the Interior. She lives in Joensuu but spent her childhood in Koria. She was first elected to the Finnish Parliament in the 2015 parliamentary election for the Savo-Karelia constituency. Between 2016 and 2019,Mikkonen was the chairman of the Green League parliamentary group. Mikkonen graduated with a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Joensuu in North Karelia in 2003.
