Jim Noir is the self-titled second album by Manchester based multi-instrumentalist Jim Noir. It was released on 8 April 2008.
Interviewed by KCMP's Mary Lucia live from Austin, Texas music festival South by Southwest on 13 March 2008, Noir half-jokingly described the album as “another homegrown thing, made in my very own bedroom – 12, 13 delightful tracks made from my soul, not too plastic.“ [1]

The album received very positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 80, based on 15 reviews, which indicates "generally favorable reviews". [2]
Entertainment Weekly‘s Michele Romero described the album as “endlessly uplifting” and praised it for its “instantly addictive compositions”. [5] Praising the album's melodies and production, Slant Magazine’s Jonathan Keefe also found the album “endlessly enjoyable”. [9]
AllMusic’s Tim Sendra found similar praise for the album, calling it “a second helping of a particularly good meal” and “a satisfying listening experience”. While seeing “no stand-out tracks”, he noted that “the overall quality of the record is so high and the sound is so perfect, you don't feel like there is something so terribly important missing”. [3] Drowned In Sound’s Dom Gourlay thought that, “[w]hile a tad too long, with this record Jim Noir has shown that the British singer/songwriter can be eccentric and amusing rather than bland and workmanlike - hopefully it will earn its creator his fair share of recognition”. [4]
Comparing the album to its predecessor, PopMatters’ Dan Raper called it “much more coherent and complete” as well as “much more mature, and (thereby) much more interesting”. However, he concluded that “Noir can still be goofy” at times, which is why his “music won’t appeal to everyone.” [8] Similarly undecided, The Guardian’s Jude Rogers was critical about the album’s “retrofuturism”: “When this time-travelling works, it dazzles: […] But elsewhere, its perkiness wanes quickly, and the whiff of kitsch sits as awkwardly as a paisley space suit.” [7]
The Departure was an English rock band from Northampton, formed in October 2003. Their debut album, Dirty Words, was released 13 June 2005 by Parlophone. A second album, Inventions, was expected to be released in early 2008, but was not. The band split up on 30 January 2008.
Keys to the World is the third studio album by English singer-songwriter Richard Ashcroft. It was released 23 January 2006, reaching number 2 in the UK Albums Chart. Ashcroft worked on the album at State of the Ark Studios and Julian Kershaw wrote string arrangements for some of the songs later recorded by London Metropolitan Orchestra. Strings are featured on eight songs on the album which also features electric viola on some tracks – played by Bruce White. The engineer/producer of this album was Chris Potter, and being his final solo album for a decade, until These People (2016).
Tower of Love is the debut album by Manchester based multi-instrumentalist Jim Noir. First released on 12 December 2005, it largely consists of songs taken from Noir's first three releases, Eanie Meany EP, My Patch EP and A Quiet Man EP.
The Rose Has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast is the sixth studio album by Matmos. Each of the album's songs is dedicated to a notable gay or lesbian person who has influenced the duo, and this influence is reflected in the songs themselves. For examples, "Rag for William S. Burroughs" features the clatter of a type writer and a gunshot, representing the William Tell incident, and "Tract for Valerie Solanas" contains excerpts from the SCUM Manifesto.

The Hungry Saw is the seventh studio album by British alternative band Tindersticks, released on 28 April 2008 by Beggars Banquet Records. Following the release of the band's sixth album, Waiting for the Moon in 2003, Tindersticks had entered an extended hiatus before reconvening to perform at the Don't Look Back event in September 2006. This concert marked the final performance of the original line-up of the band, and three members left the group shortly afterwards. The remaining members of Tindersticks felt reinvigorated by the performance, and relocated to France to begin working on new material in the summer of 2007, recording and producing the album at their own Le Chien Chanceaux studio in Limousin. The Hungry Saw was the first new Tindersticks material in five years.

Melody's Echo Chamber is the eponymous debut studio album by French musician Melody Prochet, under her project name Melody's Echo Chamber. It was released on 25 September 2012 on Weird World Record Co and Fat Possum Records. It received generally favorable reviews from critics who praised Prochet's efforts for her debut and also Kevin Parker's role in production. Pure Mood is the fourth studio album by American shoegaze band Ringo Deathstarr. It was released on December 11, 2015, by Vinyl Junkie Recordings in Japan, and on January 20, 2016, by The Reverberation Appreciation Society (RVRB-024) in North America. The album was recorded in two different locations: Sky Lab in Los Angeles, and Storage Town in Austin, Texas.
Condition is the second studio album of British band Spectres, released on 10 March 2017 on the label Sonic Cathedral. It was tracked by Dominic Mitchison in Bristol and mastered by Mogwai and 65daysofstatic client Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios. The album was positively received.
Flock is the eleventh album by English musician Jane Weaver, released on 5 March 2021 by Fire Records. Inspired by Lebanese torch songs, 1980s Russian Aerobics records and Australian punk, the album incorporates a pop-leaning production in comparison to Weaver's previous works. Upon release, the album was met with critical acclaim, with praise towards its experimental sound.
