Joannabelle Ng Li Vun (born 24 June 1988) is a Malaysian model, actress and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Malaysia Universe 2009. She represented Malaysia at the 58th Miss Universe pageant held in Nassau, Bahamas.

Early life and career

Ng was born in Penampang, Sabah, is a mixed of Indian and Chinese descent. Ng is the eldest of four siblings. She has one sister and two brothers. In 2008, Ng had an accident and suffered second degree burns on her face, neck and hand. [2] Her boyfriend on 3 years abandoned her. Gladly, Ng family rallied around her and boosted her fighting spirit. With all the determination, her wounds healed so well. [3] At the age of 18, Ng signed a contract with Simones Models Kuala Lumpur and began her career as a model. She quit her job after her request for unpaid leave was not allowed. After that, she decided to be a model for EeLin Models agency in Taipei, Taiwan.

At 16, Ng participated in Sabah Top Model Search contest in 2004. Being the youngest competitor, she proved that age is just a number and emerged the winner.

Miss Malaysia Universe 2009

Ng made her comeback at the Miss Malaysia Universe 2009 pageant. [4] She wanted to regain her confidence and get her life back. She eventually won the pageant and also begged 2 subsidiaries awards which is Miss Audience's Favorite and Miss Friendship. Winning the crown has brought back her confidence and has opened up various opportunities for her.
