Joke Falls is a 2004 Indian Kannada-language comedy movie, directed by Ashok Patil and produced by Atlanta Nagendra. The film stars Ramesh Aravind, Neetha, Deepali and Dilip Thadeshwar. [1] [2] [3] Music was composed by Mano Murthy. [4] The movie is a remake of the 1975 Hindi movie Chupke Chupke which itself remake of 1971 Bengali film Chhadmabeshi . [5]

Plot

Botany professor Anant Patil falls in love with Sulekha and marries her to the dismay of Sulekha's brother in law, Raghav Joshi. Raghav refuses to attend the wedding. But Anant decides to turn the tables on Raghav and teach him a lesson.

Production

Director Patil devised the basic plot of the story from the Hindi movie Chupke Chupke and reworked it to give it a fresh look. Patil then recruited Ramesh Aravind to act in the film. [6] Newcomer Neethu was chosen to play the female lead. [7] Deepali, who had previously acted in Nanna Preethiya Hudugi , was chosen to play the second female lead. [8] [9]

Release and reception

Joke Falls was released on 3 December 2004. [11] The film received a good response, and ran for a hundred days in Bangalore. [12] [13] [14] [15] It was the first Kannada movie to run for twenty five weeks in PVR Cinemas in Bangalore. [16]

Joke Falls received positive reviews from critics as well as audiences. [17] [18] A critic from Deccan Herald wrote that "The film is hilarious comedy". [17] A critic from Sify wrote that "If you are looking for a comedy film, go ahead and watch it". [19] A critic from Viggy wrote that if you can forget the film's drawbacks, "its laughter laughter and laughter all the way". [18]

The movie also saw screenings in Australia, Canada, and the United States. [20]

It stars Vishnuvardhan, Aniruddh and Rakshita in pivotal roles. Anant Nag, Srinivasa Murthy, Ramakrishna and Chitra Shenoy feature in supporting roles. The title of the film comes from a track of the same name of the 1982 Kannada film Chalisuva Modagalu starring Rajkumar. This movie was the 2500th Kannada movie to be released.

Mahasharana Haralayya is a 2014 Indian Kannada-language film directed by B A Purushottham starring Ramesh Aravind and Sridhar. and K V Ravichandra in lead roles. The film released on 10 January 2014 The film is based on the 12th century philosophers Basavanna and Haralayya.

Deepali is a former Indian actress known for her work in the Kannada films Nanna Preethiya Hudugi (2001) and Joke Falls (2004).
