Jonathan Dismang (born July 30,1979) is a Republican member of the Arkansas Senate. A resident of Beebe in White County near Little Rock,he has served in the Arkansas General Assembly since 2011. Dismang served as President Pro Tempore of the Arkansas Senate in the 90th Arkansas General Assembly and 91st Arkansas General Assembly.
He served in the Arkansas House of Representatives before he was elected to the Arkansas Senate in 2010. From 2011 to 2013,he represented Senate District 29,which then included parts of White,Pulaski,and Faulkner counties. [1] Following redistricting in 2013,Dismang represented District 28 until 2023,when he was redistricted into District 18.
Dismang is a graduate of the Church of Christ-affiliated Harding University in Searcy in White County. He is chief financial officer of Whitwell and Ryles Real Estate Investments,LLC, [1] and owns a cattle company.
Prairie County is in the Central Arkansas region of the U.S. state of Arkansas. The county is named for the Grand Prairie,a subregion of the Arkansas Delta known for rice cultivation and aquaculture that runs through the county. Created as Arkansas's 54th county in 1846,Prairie County is home to four incorporated towns,including DeValls Bluff,the southern district county seat,and two incorporated cities,including Des Arc,the northern district county seat. The county is also the site of numerous unincorporated communities and ghost towns. Occupying 676 square miles (175,000 ha),Prairie County is the median-sized county in Arkansas. As of the 2020 Census,the county's population was 8,282. Based on population,the county is the ninth-smallest county of the 75 in Arkansas.
James Paul Clarke was a lawyer and politician from the Arkansas Delta during the Progressive Era. He served in public office over a period of almost 30 years,rising from the Arkansas General Assembly to Attorney General of Arkansas and later 18th Governor of Arkansas,ending his career in the United States Senate. In a period of Democratic Party hegemony known as the "Solid South",Clarke blended positions of the budding Populist movement,such as free silver and railroad regulation,with nationalism and his gifted skills as an orator to popularity and electoral success.

Incumbent Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson was term-limited and could not seek a third term. Republican Sarah Huckabee Sanders,daughter of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee,defeated Democrat Chris Jones to become the first woman ever elected to the office,and was sworn in on January 10,2023.
Samuel H. Holland was a state senator in Arkansas in 1873 and,for a special session,in 1874 during the Reconstruction era. He also served as a teacher,sheriff,jailer,and principal. He taught at the Howard School,named for Oliver O. Howard,until it was closed by the school board in 1871. The school building was used by the United Sons of Ham,a secret African American benevolent organization. He was involved in the establishment of millage fees to fund area schools.
Richard A. Dawson was a lawyer and state legislator in Arkansas. He was born in Virginia and his father was a minister. Dawson studied at Oberlin College,and received his law degree from the Old University of Chicago. Dawson practiced law in Pine Bluff,Arkansas and represented the area in the Arkansas General Assembly from 1873 to 1874 and from 1879 to 1881.
George Waltham Bell was an American doctor who served in the Arkansas Senate from 1891 to 1895. He was a graduate of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. He served as president of Southland College.
Christian Heinrich "Henry" Thane was a wealthy businessman and bank owner in Arkansas. His Craftsman-style home,Thane House,was designed by Little Rock architect Charles L. Thompson. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
