Bart Franklin Hester (born December 9,1977) [1] is an American politician serving as a member of the Arkansas Senate from the 33rd district. He has served since 2013,and was nominated president pro tempore of the Senate for the 94th Arkansas General Assembly.
A native of Conway,Arkansas,Hester graduated from Green Forest High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. For three years,Hester played on the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team. [2]
Since 2005,Hester has worked as a real estate agent. He was elected to the Arkansas Senate in November 2012 and assumed office on January 14,2013. [3] From 2013 to 2015,Hester served as vice chair of the House Children and Youth Committee. During the 2017 legislative session,he served as chair of the House Public Retirement and Social Security Programs Committee. Since 2021,Hester has served as chair of the House Senate Efficiency Committee. Hester has also served as majority leader of the Senate. [4] In 2022,Hester was chosen as President Pro Tempore for the 2023 session. [5]
The president pro tempore of the United States Senate is the second-highest-ranking official of the United States Senate,after the vice president. According to Article One,Section Three of the United States Constitution,the vice president of the United States is the president of the Senate,and the Senate must choose a president pro tempore to act in the vice president's absence.

Timothy Markham Sheldon is an American farmer,businessman,and politician who served as a member of the Washington State Senate,representing the 35th District between 1997 and 2023. The district includes all of Mason County and parts of Thurston and Kitsap counties. A member of the Democratic Party,Sheldon caucused with the Republican-dominated Majority Coalition Caucus and afterwards the Republican Caucus from 2012. He previously represented Mason County as a Mason County Commissioner for District 2 from 2005 to 2017 and served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 1991 to 1997.

By longstanding custom,the lieutenant governor presides over sessions devoted to ceremonial purposes,while the bulk of the legislative management and political power is reserved for the president pro tempore,who is elected directly by the Oklahoma Senate.

Kim L. Ward is an American politician who served as acting lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania and currently serves as President pro tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate. She represents the 39th Senatorial District which covers the central portions of Westmoreland County,Pennsylvania. Following the resignation of Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman,Ward became acting lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania on January 3,2023,and served until January 17,2023. She is the first female president pro tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate. She was succeeded by Austin Davis as Lieutenant Governor.
