Joseph Arame (born 29 August 1948 in Le Moule, Guadeloupe) is a former French sprinter who specialised in the 200 metres.
He was 5 times French 200 metres champion, as well as Indoor 200m champion in 1982.
He was a European cup semi-final winner in the 200 in 1977.
He competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics and 1980 Summer Olympics in the 200m, where both times he reached the semi-final before being eliminated from the event. [1]
The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400 metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the stadion and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. Similarly to other sprint distances, the 200 m begins from the starting blocks. When the sprinters adopt the 'set' position in the blocks they are able to adopt a more efficient starting posture and isometrically preload their muscles. This enables them to stride forwards more powerfully when the race begins and start faster.

Arquímedes Herrera was a Venezuelan track and field athlete who competed in the sprint events and was ranked #4 in the world in the 100 m in 1963. As a teenager Herrera spent time in the Venezuelan military, taking up his athletics career after his discharge. He claimed three medals at the 1963 Pan American Games held in São Paulo, Brazil. In the final of the 200m dash three athletes crossed the finish line with the same time 21.2 seconds. The Photo finish defined the Venezuelan Rafael Romero stay with gold medal; American Ollan Cassell, with silver; and Herrera, with the bronze. In 1964 he equaled the world record 200-meter dash in 20.5 seconds and also participated at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, where he made the semi-finals in both the 100 metres and 200 metres and was a member of the Venezuelan team which finished sixth in the final of the 4 × 100 metres relay.
Christophe Lemaitre is a former French sprinter who specialised in the 100 and 200 metres. In 2010, Lemaitre became the first white athlete to break the 10-second barrier in an officially timed 100 m event. Lemaitre has run a sub-10 second 100m on seven occasions: three times in 2010 and four times in 2011. He won a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 2012 London Olympic Games and in the 200 metres at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.

Michael Jamieson is a Scottish former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain at the Olympics, FINA world championships and European championships, and Scotland in the Commonwealth Games. Jamieson won the silver medal in the men's 200-metre breaststroke at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He now is the Head Coach for the Swimming Club, Natare West London.

Calum George Jarvis is a Welsh competitive swimmer who has represented Great Britain in World Championships and the Olympics, and Wales in the Commonwealth Games. Jarvis competes primarily in freestyle and backstroke events. In 2014, he competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as part of the Welsh team, winning the bronze medal in the 200m freestyle.
Gonezie Marie Josée Dominique Ta Lou-Smith is an Ivorian sprinter competing in the 100 metres and 200 m. She finished fourth in the 100 metres and 200 metres finals at the 2016 Olympic Games, missing out on a medal in the 100m by seven-thousandths of a second (0.007). She then won silver medals in the 100 metres and 200 metres at the 2017 World Championships, the latter in the national record time of 22.08 seconds. Her 100 metres best is 10.72 seconds (2022), thus making her the African record holder.

Bethany Mae Dobbin is a British sprinter who competes mainly in the 200 metres. She is the Scottish record holder for the 200 metres with a time of 22.50 secs. She represented Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Kenneth Bednarek is an American track and field sprinter from Rice Lake, Wisconsin. He specializes in the 200-meter distance, having won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2022 World Championships, and at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
