Juaboso District is one of the nine districts in Western North Region, Ghana. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Juaboso-Bodi District in August 2004, which was created from the former Sefwi-Bibiani District Council, until the southeast part of the district was split off to create Bodi District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Juaboso District . The district assembly is located in the northwest part of Western North Region and has Juaboso as its capital town.
It is about 65 kilometers north west of the district capital Wiawso. It is also 360 kilometers north west of Takoradi on the Atlantic Ocean coast and 225 kilometres south west of Kumasi, capital of the Ashanti Region. [8]
Juaboso District lies between latitude 6° 6'N and 7°N, and longitude 2°40'W and 3°15'W. To the north are the Bia East, Bia West and Asunafo North Municipal Districts. Its eastern neighbours are the Asunafo South and Bodi Districts. The Suaman District lies south and the La Cote d’Ivoire is to the west. [8]
Juaboso District has four area councils: Kofikrom-Proso, Asempaneye, Benchema-Nkatieso and Boinzan. [9]
The population based on the 2010 population and housing census was 58,435. This was made up of 29,742 males and 28,693 females. [8]

Sefwi-Wiawso Municipal District is one of the nine districts in Western North Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Sefwi-Wiawso District, until the southwest part of the district was split off to create Sefwi-Akontombra District on 29 February 2008; thus the remaining part has been retained as Sefwi-Wiawso District, which it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status in March 2012 to become Sefwi-Wiawso Municipal District. The municipality is located in the northeast part of Western North Region and has Wiawso as its capital town.
Bia District is a former district that was located in Western Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Juaboso-Bia District in 1988, which was created from the former Sefwi-Bibiani District Council, until the northwest part of the district was split off to create Bia District; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Juaboso-Bodi District. However, on 28 June 2012, it was split off into two new districts: Bia West District and Bia East District. The district assembly was located in the northwest part of Western Region and had Sefwi Essam as its capital town.
Asunafo North Municipal District is one of the six districts in Ahafo Region, Ghana. It was formerly part of the then-larger Asunafo District from 1988 until the southern part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 12 November 2003 to become Asunafo South District. The remaining northern part was renamed as Asunafo North District which was later elevated to municipal status on 29 February 2008 to become Asunafo North Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Ahafo Region and has Goaso as its capital town.
Sefwi Wiawso is a town in the Sefwi-Wiawso Municipal District in the Western North Region of Ghana. It doubles as the capital of Sefwi-Wiawso Municipal District and Western North Region. Wiawso serves as the traditional seat for the Omanhene of Sefwi-Wiawso traditional area. The settlement of Wiawso began on hilltop with Sefwi-Dwenase settlement occupying the lowlands. Overtime, Wiawso and Sefwi-Dwenase have conurbated with almost all the financial institutions, governmental agency-offices, lorry terminals and the main market all located in Sefwi Dwenase. Wiawso is known for producing timber, cocoa and cashew. One of Ghana's 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), Sefwi Wiawso Municipal is a member of the 22 MMDAs in the Western North Region. Legislative Instrument (L.I) 1386, which was passed on November 23, 1988, formed the Municipality and designated Wiawso as its official capital. Based on the 2021 population and residential census, there are 151,220 people living in the Municipality, including 75,905 men and 75,315 women.
Bia East District is one of the nine districts in Western North Region, Ghana. It was formerly part of the then-larger Bia District until the Eastern part was split off in 2012 to form the Bia East District while the Western part was renamed as Bia West District.The district assembly is located in the northwest part of Western North Region and has Sefwi Adabokrom as its capital town. The larger Bia District was created from the former Sefwi-Bibiani District in 2004.

The district assembly is located in the southern part of Eastern Region and has Adeiso as its capital town. Adabokrom is a town in Western North Region of Ghana. It is the capital of Bia East. Adabokrom was named the District capital after Bia East District split from Bia District in 2012. Adabokrom is about 250 km west of Kumasi. The town is noted for cocoa production.
Sefwi Bodi is a town in the Western North Region of Ghana. The people in this community are mainly Sefwi people. In June 2012, Sefwi Bodi wa elevated as the capital of the then newly created Bodi (district). Bodi is 60 km west of Sefwi Wiawso the regional capital. Bodi is considered one of the breadbaskets of Ghana. Greater percentage of foodstuffs sent to major cities like Kumasi and Accra come from Sefwi Bodi. Sefwi Bodi is noted for the Bodi Senior High School which is the only second cycle institution in that area of the country.
