2. "In Constantinople, the Prophets Moses , Aaron and Elisha were also commemorated today (cf. Delahaye: Syn. Cp. p. 832)." ^[6]
3. MAGNIFICATION:
   "We magnify you, Glorious Prophet Elias. And we venerate your fiery ascent to heaven in the flesh."
   KONDAK, TONE 2:
   "O greatly renowned Prophet Elias, who foresaw the great deeds of our God; you stopped the rains of heaven by your command. Intercede for us with the only Lover-of-Mankind." ^[7]

5. Name days celebrated today include:
   • Elias, Ilias, Elijah, Eliana, Liana (Ἠλίας).
6. Born near Boulogne in the north of France, he became a monk and later founded the monastery of Samer near Boulogne, later called Saint-Vulmaire ( fr ) after him . He also founded a convent at Wierre-aux-Bois.

8. "At Treves, St. Severa, virgin." ^[8]
9. A deacon in Cordoba in Spain who belonged to the monastery of St Zoilus and who was very zealous in ministering to Christians imprisoned by the Muslims. He was beheaded for the Orthodox Faith and his relics were enshrined in the church of St Zoilus.
10. "At Cordova, St. Paul, deacon and martyr. For rebuking Mahometan princes for their impiety and cruelty, and preaching Christ courageously, he was put to death, and went to his reward in heaven." ^[8]
11. Wife of King Alfred the Great, after his death she became a nun at the convent which she had founded in Winchester.
12. "ETHELWIDA, or EALSITHA, the widow of the great King Alfred, was the daughter of the Earl Ethelred and Edburga of Mercia. She began the foundation of the convent for women at Winchester, in conjunction with her husband, and after his death she is said to have retired to it herself. The first Abbess appointed was Etheldreda. who became the mistress of St. Edburga. Ethelwida, however, did not live to see her work completed. She survived Alfred but a few years, which she spent in great holiness of life and the practices of devotion." ^[14]
