KZKZ (729 kHz AM) was the second radio station in the Philippines. It began broadcasting in 1922 and was founded by Henry Hermann, the owner of the Electrical Supply Company in Manila. The station was upgraded in 1924 to a 100-watt station and its call letters KZKZ were adopted. Later that year, the station was sold to the Radio Corporation of the Philippines. [1]

The first radio broadcast in the Philippines was made in 1922 from Nichols air field by using a five-watt transmitter.

In 1926, the organization began work on constructing two of the largest radio stations in Asia with the idea of maintaining direct Manila-San Francisco service. [2]

RMN is the largest radio network in the Philippines with almost 65 company-owned AM & FM radio stations located around the country. Radio Mindanao Network, Inc. remains the legal name of the radio network. The network's first radio station was DXCC established in Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao on August 28, 1952. The callsign has been supposed as a reference to the surnames of the business' founders but, according to founder Henry Canoy in his memoir, was actually chosen to mean Cagayan de Oro Community.

Radio in the Philippines started in 1924 with the establishment of KZKZ (AM) in Manila, Philippines by Henry Herman Sr., owner of the Electrical Supply Company in Manila. Henry Herman was an American and a former soldier who came to the Philippines to fight in the Philippine–American War. He stayed in the Philippines after he was discharged.
