DZST (860 kHz) was an AM radio station owned and operated by the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. It was also served both as a campus station and as a Catholic station. [1]

The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, The Catholic University of the Philippines, or simply the University of Santo Tomas (UST), is a private, Roman Catholic research university in Manila, Philippines. Founded on April 28, 1611 by Miguel de Benavides, Archbishop of Manila, it has the oldest extant university charter in the Philippines and in Asia, and is one of the world's largest Catholic universities in terms of enrollment found on one campus. The university is run by the Order of Preachers. UST is the only university to have been visited by three popes four times: once by Pope Paul VI on November 28, 1970, twice by Pope John Paul II on February 18 1981 and January 13, 1995, and once by Pope Francis on January 18, 2015. The patron of the university is St. Thomas Aquinas, while St. Catherine of Alexandria is the patroness.

The station was housed in the Main Building of the campus and broadcast from 1950 to 1969. [2] The frequency is formerly occupied by Radyo Veritas (which is also a Catholic-run station).

Radyo Veritas is a Roman Catholic AM station owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila under the Global Broadcasting System, a member of the Catholic Media Network. The studio is located at Veritas Tower, #162 West Avenue corner Epifanio delos Santos Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines and its transmitter is located at Barangay Taliptip, Bulacan, Bulacan sharing the same site of DZXL RMN Manila; and it operates round-the-clock daily, except for Sundays, where the station is off the air from midnight, until 4:00 AM.

In the late 2000s, UST through its Tomasian Cable Television (TOMCAT, now known as the Tiger Media Network) launched UST Tiger Radio. UST Tiger Radio currently broadcasts online via web streaming from Monday to Friday, except during semester breaks. It is also the current official campus station of the UST community.

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and University of Santo Tomas (UST). The UST Growling Tigers is the varsity team of the University of Santo Tomas that plays in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. Formerly called the Glowing Goldies, the name has been changed starting with the 1992–93 season.

Arch of the Centuries

The Arch of the Centuries is a triumphal arch at the Plaza Intramuros of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, in the Philippines that stands meters away from the university's Millennium Gate along España Boulevard. Half of the current structure, the side facing the UST Main Building is the ruins of the original Intramuros arch while the side that faces España Boulevard is a replica. The arch was formerly the original entrance to the university when the campus was still in Intramuros during the years from 1680 to 1941.It was declared by the National Museum as a National Cultural Treasure on January 25, 2010.

The University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Engineering, or UST-Eng'g, is the engineering school of the University of Santo Tomas, the oldest and the largest Catholic university in Manila, Philippines.

DZUP 1602 is an AM campus radio station owned and operated by the University of the Philippines Diliman. Its studio facility is located at the 2nd floor, Media Center of the College of Mass Communication, U.P. Diliman campus, in Quezon City; while its transmitter is located at Village B corner Delos Reyes St., UP Village, Diliman, QC. The station is being used as a laboratory for the Broadcast Communication students of the university, with programming that includes music programs and request shows to informative segments and talk shows.

Pureza station is a station on the Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 2. Pureza station is one of the many elevated stations that can be found on the line. The station is located in Santa Mesa in Manila and is named because of its location on Pureza Street.

UST Yellow Jackets

The UST Yellow Jackets is the official pep squad and drumline of the University of Santo Tomas. It works together with the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, the official dance troupe of the university. It is the official cheerdance team of the University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition. The UST Yellow Jackets also perform for halftime during the games of the UST Growling Tigers, the university's Men's Basketball team in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

History of the University of Santo Tomas

The University of Santo Tomas is one of the oldest existing universities and holds the oldest extant university charter in the Philippines and in Asia. It was founded on April 28, 1611 by the third Archbishop of Manila, Miguel de Benavides, together with Frs. Domingo de Nieva and Bernardo de Santa Catalina. It was originally conceived as a school to prepare young men for the priesthood. Located Intramuros, it was first called Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario and later renamed Colegio de Santo Tomás in memory of Dominican theologian Saint Thomas Aquinas. In 1624, the Colegio was authorized to confer academic degrees in Theology, Philosophy and Arts. On November 20, 1645 Pope Innocent X elevated the College to the rank of a university and in 1680 it was placed under royal patronage.

The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2011. The agenda before the quadricentennial in 2011 included the introduction of new academic programs, improvements in the university's infrastructure, and other projects to raise UST’s national and international prominence and promote its role as a social catalyst.

Jeric Teng Philippine professional basketball player

Jeric Allen Uy Teng is a Filipino basketball player who last played for the NorthPort Batang Pier of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was drafted 12th overall by Rain or Shine in the 2013 PBA draft. He played college ball for the UST Growling Tigers in the UAAP.

University of Santo Tomas Baybayin Documents

The University of Santo Tomas Baybayin Documents or UST Baybayin Documents are two 17th century land deeds written in baybayin, an ancient Philippine syllabary. Due to its cultural and historical significance, the documents were declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Archives of the Philippines Director Victorino Manalo during the Second Baybayin Conference at the Museum of the Filipino People, Manila on August 22, 2014. It was the first declaration made the Philippines' national archives and the first paper document declared as a National Cultural Treasure.

DLSU Radio-Green Giant FM is an internet campus radio station owned by the De La Salle University, with management handled by the Student Media Office. The station's studio is located at Br. Bloemen Hall in the university's Taft Avenue campus in Manila. Green Giant FM is currently streaming online with live shows every weekdays, and automated music during off-peak hours.
