Kane Follows (born 27 May 1997) is a New Zealand swimmer who competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics. [1]

Follows was born and raised in Auckland. He attended One Tree Hill College in Auckland and the University of Hawai'i. [2]

Swimming career

Follows currently lives and trains in Dunedin under Lars Humer. [3] [4] Previous to training in Dunedin with the Neptune Swim Club, Follows also trained at Mt Eden Swimming, [5] North Shore Swimming Club [6] and the University of Hawai'i. [7]

He first represented New Zealand at a senior level in the 2022 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Melbourne with a 14th place finish in the 200 metres backstroke in a time of 1:53.11. [8] [9] [10]

At the 2024 New Zealand Olympic Trials, Follows won the 200 metres backstroke breaking the New Zealand record (set by Gareth Kean in 2012), with a time of 1:57.13 and qualified for the Olympics. [11]

At the 2024 Summer Olympics, Follows finished 21st in the 200 metres backstroke with a time of 1:58.63 and 33rd in the 100 metres backstroke. [12]

Apostolos Christou is a Greek swimmer specializing in backstroke. Luke Greenbank is an English professional swimmer who specialises in backstroke. A medalist in the 200 metre backstroke at the Olympic Games and the World and European championships, he also swam the first leg in the 2019 World and 2020 European Championship gold medal-winning Great Britain medley relay teams. He won a silver medal as lead-off for Great Britain in the 4 x 100 metre medley relay for men at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He won a gold medal as lead-off for England in the heats of the 4 x 100 metre medley relay for men at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Kaylee Rochelle McKeown is an Australian swimmer and quintuple Olympic gold medalist. She is the reigning Olympic champion in the 100 and 200 metres backstroke. She is the world record holder in the long course 50 metre backstroke and the long course 200 metre backstroke, and formerly in the 100 metre backstroke and 200 metre backstroke. She won gold in both the 100 metre and 200 metre backstroke at both the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. In 2023, she was named as the "Best Female Swimmer of the Year" by World Aquatics, after sweeping gold in all three events of backstroke at all three World Cup legs, held in Berlin, Athens and Budapest in October, 2023.

Carina Doyle is a New Zealand Olympic swimmer. In 2018 she competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay, and the Women's 100m, 200m and 400m Freestyle events.

Anastasia "Nastiya" Gorbenko is an Israeli competitive swimmer. She competes in the backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and medley. She has won 8 World and European championships gold medals, competed at 2 Olympic finals, broken most of the Israeli national records for women and mixed relays, and is considered to be Israel's greatest swimmer of all time. In February 2024, Gorbenko won a silver medal at the Doha World Championships in the women's 400 meters individual medley. Gorbenko represented Israel at the 2024 Summer Olympics in swimming in the 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 200m individual medley, 400m individual medley, 4x200m freestyle relay, and mixed 4x100m medley relay.

Noted for her strength in medley and butterfly events, she is the world record holder in the 400 metre individual medley, and also holds the Olympic and textile records in the 200 metre butterfly event, and the Olympic record in the 200 metre individual medley. Cameron Gray is a New Zealand swimmer specialising in sprint events. He first represented his country at the 2024 Summer Olympics, and won a bronze medal in the 50 metre butterfly at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
