Ainsley Thorpe (born 13 February 1998) is a New Zealand professional triathlete. She competed in the women's triathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. [2]
Thorpe began participating in triathlons as a 16-year-old. She has competed in the World Triathlon Series since 2018, with a best result of third in the 2019 sprint event in Antwerp. She also competes in the World Triathlon mixed relay series, winning the relay at the Edmonton leg of the series in 2019. [3] She represented her country at the 2020 Summer Olympics, but did not finish the women's triathlon after crashing on the cycle leg. [4] [5] She also competed in the mixed relay alongside Tayler Reid, Hayden Wilde, and Nicole van der Kaay. [4] [6]
Thorpe was listed to compete in the women's trialthlon at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, [7] but did not start the event due to COVID-19. [8]

She was also the first female triathlete to win an Olympic medal for Great Britain, a bronze in 2016, holding off housemate, compatriot and fellow world champion Non Stanford.
Ryan Sissons is a New Zealand triathlete. Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Sissons represented New Zealand at the 2012 London Olympics in the triathlon where he finished 33rd. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he finished in 13th in the individual event and was part of the New Zealand mixed relay team that finished in 5th. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he finished in 17th. At the 2017 ITU World series in Hamburg, Ryan finished 3rd. At the age of 32, Ryan retired in 2020 after the Tokyo Olympic Games were postponed, with no guarantees that the games would go ahead in 2021.
Crisanto Grajales Valencia is a Mexican triathlete who won gold medals at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games and 2015 Pan American Games. He placed 28th at the 2012 Olympics and 12th at the 2016 Rio Games.

New Zealand competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England, from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It is New Zealand's 22nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every Games since their inception in 1930. New Zealand finished fifth on the medal table, winning a total of 50 medals, 20 of which were gold. This makes these games New Zealand's best performance ever in terms of gold medals, beating the 17 won in Auckland at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, but third overall in terms of total medals, with 50, behind the 58 in 1990, and the 53 at the Games also in Auckland.

The triathlon competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris ran from 31 July to 5 August at Pont Alexandre III, featuring a total of 110 athletes who were to compete in each of the men's and women's events.
