Kaylan Bigun (born May 23, 2006) is an American tennis player. After winning the boys' singles title at the 2024 French Open, he reached a career high ITF junior combined ranking of No. 1 on June 10, 2024.

Early life

Bigun was born in Los Angeles. [1] His father, Dimitry, was born in Ukraine but moved to Los Angeles when he was a teenager. He is Jewish. [2]

He trains in California and the USTA Center in Florida. [3] His twin brother, Meecah Bigun, is also a tennis player. [4] In January 2024, he signed a letter of intent to play tennis at the University of California, Los Angeles. [5] [6]

Junior career

Bigun represented the United States at the 2022 Junior Davis Cup in Antalya, reaching the final. His twin brother, Meecah, was also on the team. [7] In 2023, he was a reached the singles quarterfinals of Wimbledon and the semifinals of the Junior Orange Bowl.

In 2024, at the Australian Open, he reached the quarterfinals in singles and the semifinals in doubles with partner Jagger Leach. [2] At the French Open, he reached the doubles quarterfinals seeded fourth with Leach. Seeded fifth in singles, he won the title with wins over Viktor Frydrych, wildcard Timeo Trufelli, 12th seed Miguel Tobón Jr., qualifier Henry Bernet, second seed Joel Schwärzler, and Tomasz Berkieta. [8] [9] Bigun became the first American player to win the junior boys' singles title since Tommy Paul in 2015. [10] Following his victory, he became the junior world No. 1, surpassing Rei Sakamoto. Professional career

In April 2024, Bigun qualified for the main draw of the Sarasota Open.

The 2020 French Open was a major tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was held at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France. Originally scheduled for 24 May to 7 June, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was first moved to 20 September to 4 October 2020, then later moved back a week further to 27 September to 11 October 2020. Qualifying matches, comprising singles and doubles play, began 21 September. Junior and wheelchair tournaments were also scheduled. Rafael Nadal was the twelve-time and defending champion in men's singles; Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion in women's singles but chose not to defend her title following concerns over the pandemic.

The 2024 French Open was a Grand Slam tennis tournament that was played on outdoor clay courts. It was held at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France, from 26 May to 9 June 2024, comprising singles, doubles and mixed doubles play. Junior and wheelchair tournaments were also scheduled.

Kaylan Bigun won the boys' singles title at the 2024 French Open, defeating Tomasz Berkieta in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–3. Bigun became the first American player to win the junior boys' singles title since Tommy Paul in 2015.

Tereza Valentová won the girls' singles title at the 2024 French Open, defeating compatriot Laura Samson in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–0). This was the first all-Czech junior final in Grand Slam history. Valentová was also the third Czech player in four years to win the girls' singles, after Linda Nosková in 2021 and Lucie Havlíčková in 2022.

Nicolai Budkov Kjær and Joel Schwärzler won the boys' doubles title at the 2024 French Open, defeating Federico Cinà and Rei Sakamoto in the final, 6–4, 7–6(7–3). Schwärzler became the first Austrian player to win a junior boys' major title since Lucas Miedler at the 2014 Australian Open. Budkov Kjær became the first Norwegian player to win a major title in any discipline. The pair saved a match point en route to the title, in the semifinals against Timofei Derepasko and Amir Omarkhanov.

Rafael Jódar is a Spanish tennis player. He has a career high singles ranking of No. 865 achieved on 23 September 2024. He won the boys' singles title at the 2024 US Open.
