Junior Davis Cup and Junior Billie Jean King Cup are the international team events in junior tennis (16-and-under age category).

Contents

History

Competitions were launched by the ITF in 1985 as the 16-and-under World Youth Cup, and rebranded in 2002 under the current names. [1]

Format: Each year nations enter regional qualifying events with the winners progressing to the Finals, where they compete to be crowned champion. [1]

The senior equivalents of the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Billie Jean King Cup are the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup, respectively.

The Billie Jean King Cup is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The name was changed to the Fed Cup in 1995, and changed again in September 2020 in honor of former World No. 1 Billie Jean King. The Billie Jean King Cup is the world's largest annual women's international team sports competition in terms of the number of nations that compete. The current chair is Katrina Adams.

The Czech Republic women's national tennis team is the representative national team of the Czech Republic in Billie Jean King Cup competition. The Czech Republic team in its current incarnation began competing in 1993. It is seen as the primary successor to the Czechoslovak team, and not Slovakia, even though the Czechoslovak team included both Czech and Slovak players.

The Russia women's national tennis team represented Russia in Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Russian Tennis Federation. They compete in the World Group. Following the 2020 ban of Russia by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), it competed and won the 2020–21 Billie Jean King Cup under the RTF flag and name. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the International Tennis Federation suspended Russia from Billie Jean King Cup competitions.

The Slovakia women's national tennis team represents Slovakia in Fed Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Slovak Tennis Association.

The Argentina women's national tennis team represents Argentina in Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Asociación Argentina de Tenis. The team's historical best results came in 1986 and 1993, when they reached the semifinals. Argentina played the last five years in the Americas Zone Group I, after being relegated losing World Group II Playoffs against Spain. Argentina are currently number 24 in the ITF rankings.

The Serbian Billie Jean King Cup team represents Serbia in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and is governed by the Tennis Federation of Serbia.

The Colombia women's national tennis team represents Colombia in Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Federación Colombiana de Tenis. They currently compete in the Americas Zone of Group I.

The Dominican Republic Fed Cup team represents the Dominican Republic in Fed Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Federación Dominicana de Tenis. They currently compete in the Americas Zone Group II.

The Mexico Billie Jean King Cup team represents Mexico in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Federación Mexicana de Tenis. They currently compete in the Americas Zone Group II.

The Puerto Rico Billie Jean King Cup team represents Puerto Rico in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Associación de Tenis de Puerto Rico. They currently compete in the Americas Zone of Group II.

The Uruguay Billie Jean King Cup team represents Uruguay in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Asociación Uruguaya de Tenis. They currently compete in the Americas Zone Group II.

The Moldova Billie Jean King Cup team represents Moldova in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Moldova Republic Tennis Federation. They have not competed since 2017.

The Cuba Billie Jean King Cup team represents Cuba in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Federación Cubana de Tenis de Campo. They have not competed since 2010.

The Venezuela Billie Jean King Cup team represents Venezuela in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Federación Venezolana de Tenis. Venezuela will compete in Americas Zone Group I in 2012.

The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) is the governing body of the sport of table tennis in Europe, and is the only authority recognised for this purpose by the International Table Tennis Federation.
