The administrative centre was also located near the Jostedal Church in the central part of the valley.

Byneset was located along an arm of the Trondheimsfjord and it was separated from the city of Trondheim by the Bymarka recreation area. Lars Haltbrekken is a Norwegian environmentalist and was elected to the Parliament of Norway in 2017 for the Socialist Left Party. He was chairman of Friends of the Earth Norway from 2005 to 2016 after having been deputy chairman from 2003 to 2005. Haltbrekken was also chairman of Natur og Ungdom in 1995 and 1996. In between the two leaderships he worked primarily trying to prevent natural gas power plants in Norway, and was chairman of Fellesaksjonen mot gasskraftverk. He grew up in Trondheim.
Storsjøen is a lake in the Odalen valley in Innlandet county, Norway. The 42.8-square-kilometre (16.5 sq mi) lake straddles the municipal boundary between Sør-Odal Municipality and Nord-Odal Municipality. The lake lies just south of the village of Sand and just north of the village of Skarnes.
Svein Harberg is a Norwegian businessman and politician for the Conservative Party. He has served as an member of Parliament for Aust-Agder since 2009, and the Storting's first Vice President since 2021. He was also mayor of Grimstad from 2003 to 2007.
