180,000 species of Lepidoptera are described, equivalent to 10% of the total described species of living organisms. This is a list of the diversity of the Lepidoptera showing the estimated number of genera and species described for each superfamily and, where available, family. See Lepidoptera for a note of the schedule of families used.

Pygoscelis

The genus Pygoscelis ("rump-legged") contains three living species of penguins collectively known as "brush-tailed penguins".

Gobiops is an extinct genus of temnospondyl from the Jurassic of Mongolia, China, and possibly Kyrgyzstan. The genus is represented by a single species, Gobiops desertus. It was named in 1991 from the Late Jurassic Shar Teeg Beds of Mongolia. Additional material was described in 2005 from the Middle Jurassic Toutunhe Formation in the Junggar Basin of China. Gobiops belongs to the family Brachyopidae. The poorly known genus Ferganobatrachus, named in 1990 from Shar Teeg, is probably synonymous with Gobiops.

Conchylodes Genus of moths

Conchylodes is a genus of snout moths in the family Crambidae. The genus comprises 21 species and is placed in the tribe Udeini.

Lineodes Genus of moth

Lineodes is a genus of snout moths of the subfamily Spilomelinae in the family Crambidae. The genus was described by Achille Guenée in 1854, with Lineodes hieroglyphalis as the type species.

Kemkemia is a genus of crocodyliforms living in the Cretaceous, described from a single fossil in 1999 recovered from Morocco by an Italian team searching for fossil invertebrates.

Bepea Genus of moths

Bepea is a moth genus in the subfamily Spilomelinae of the family Crambidae.

Udeoides is a genus of snout moths of the subfamily Spilomelinae in the family Crambidae. The genus was described by Koen Maes in 2006 and distinguished from the related genus Udea. All six species are distributed in the Afrotropical realm.

Asalebria florella is a species of snout moth in the genus Asalebria. It was described by Josef Johann Mann in 1862. It is found in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Croatia, North Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russia and Turkey.

Euzopherodes lutisignella is a species of snout moth in the genus Euzopherodes. It was described by Josef Johann Mann in 1869. It is found in Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia and on Sicily. It has also been recorded from Kyrgyzstan.

Heminomistis is a monotypic snout moth genus in the family Pyralidae. Its only species, Heminomistis melanthes, is known from Thailand. Both the genus and species were first described by Edward Meyrick in 1933.

Sauroniops

Sauroniops is a genus of carnivorous basal carcharodontosaurid theropod dinosaur known from the Late Cretaceous of Morocco.

Lipararchis hyacinthopa is a moth in the family Crambidae. It was described by Edward Meyrick in 1934. It is found on Fiji.

Wangosaurus is an extinct genus of basal pistosauroid known from the Middle Triassic Falang Formation of Xingyi in Guizhou Province, southwestern China. It contains a single species, Wangosaurus brevirostris, first described and named by Le-Tian Ma, Da-Yong Jiang, Olivier Rieppel, Ryosuke Motani and Andrea Tintori in 2015. The specific name brevirostris comes from Greek for "short snout". It is known solely from its holotype, a nearly complete and articulated skeleton missing only the rear part of its tail.

Majiashanosaurus is an extinct genus of pachypleurosaur or alternatively a basal eosauropterygian known from the Early Triassic of Anhui Province, eastern China. It contains a single species, Majiashanosaurus discocoracoidis.

Huinculsaurus

Huinculsaurus is a genus of elaphrosaurine noasaurid dinosaur from the Huincul Formation in Neuquén Province, Argentina. The type and only species is Huinculsaurus montesi. It was probably around 3 metres (9.8 ft) when fully grown, although this is only speculation since no fully mature specimens are currently known.

Plecotus gaisleri, also known as Gaisler's long-eared bat, is a species of bat in the genus Plecotus. It is medium-sized grayish-brown and found in Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia.

Kompsornis is an extinct genus of avialan that lived during the Early Cretaceous period of China. The type and only known species is Kompsornis longicaudus; the specific name means "long-tailed". It is known from only a single fossil specimen from the Jiufotang Formation. Kompsornis was closely related to the well-known Jeholornis, another long-tailed avialan from China, but differs from it in features of its skeleton, particularly the fusion and growth rate of its bones. Like other jeholornithiforms, Kompsornis was a long-tailed avialan with long wings and possessed little or no teeth, with none identified in the single specimen of Kompsornis.
