Aberdeen F.C. is a Scottish professional football club based in Aberdeen, Scotland. The club was founded in 1903 after an amalgamation of three local clubs; Orion F.C., Victoria United and the original Aberdeen FC. [1] The club has played at Pittodrie Stadium since 1903. [2] They are one of the most successful clubs in Scotland, having won four League championships and thirteen domestic trophies, as well as the European Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 1983.

The club's record appearance maker is Willie Miller, who played 797 games for Aberdeen between 1972 and his retirement in 1990. Joe Harper is the club's top goalscorer with 199 goals in major competitions.

Joseph Montgomery Harper is a Scottish former footballer, mainly remembered for his two spells with Aberdeen, during which he won the three main domestic trophies once each and became the club's record goalscorer with 207 goals in major competitions. He also played for Morton and Hibernian in Scotland, and for Huddersfield Town and Everton in England. He finished his career in the Highland League.

James Bett is a Scottish former professional association footballer who played in central or left midfield. He played with Aberdeen for nine seasons and had shorter spells at other clubs in Belgium, Iceland and Scotland. He earned 26 caps for the Scottish national team over eight years.

Patrick Travers was a Scottish football player and manager in the first half of the 20th century. He played for many clubs in his native Scotland and for Barnsley in England, before becoming involved in coaching, and later, management, winning the Scottish Cup with Clyde on two occasions either side of World War II.

John Hewitt is a Scottish former footballer and manager, who spent the majority of his playing career with Aberdeen, but also had spells with Celtic and St Mirren among others. He also spent a short time in management in Ireland with Dundalk before retiring from the game.

Neil Alexander Simpson is a Scottish former footballer, who played for Aberdeen, Newcastle United, Motherwell and Scotland.

Aberdeen Football Club are one of Scotland's most successful football teams, with 17 major domestic trophy wins: four League titles with 17 runners-up finishes, seven Scottish Cups with nine final defeats, and six Scottish League Cups with nine final defeats. They are the only Scottish team to have won two European trophies – the European Cup Winners' Cup against Real Madrid on 11 May 1983 and the European Super Cup against the European Cup holders Hamburger SV in December 1983.
