Girls' Generation's The Boys was the best-selling album of 2011 in South Korea.

The Gaon Album Chart was [lower-alpha 1] a South Korean record chart that ranked the best-selling albums and EPs in South Korea. It was part of the Gaon Music Chart, which launched in February 2010. [1] The data are compiled by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Music Content Industry Association based upon weekly and monthly physical album sales by six major South Korean distributors: LOEN Entertainment, S.M. Entertainment, Sony Music Korea, Warner Music Korea, Universal Music and Mnet Media. [2]

In 2011, there were 44 albums which reached number one on the weekly chart. Girls' Generation, Big Bang, and JYJ topped the chart with three different albums each, more than any other act. CNBLUE, Kim Hyun-joong, and Super Junior each had two number one albums on the chart. The longest chart run on the weekly chart at number one was Girls' Generation's The Boys and Super Junior's Mr. Simple ; both spent four weeks at the top of the chart. On the monthly chart, TVXQ and Big Bang had the most album number-ones, with two each. Girls' Generation's The Boys topped the monthly chart for three consecutive months from October to December.

Overall, Girls' Generation's The Boys was Gaon's best-selling album of 2011, selling 385,348 copies. [3]

The group's name stems from the idea that each member is reminiscent of a different type of chocolate. The Boys is the third Korean studio album and the fourth overall by South Korean girl group Girls' Generation. The record saw the contribution of the group's previous collaborator Hitchhiker, who produced the tracks "Telepathy" and "Sunflower". The title track, "The Boys", was a result of experimenting with new producers, including American Grammy Award-winning producer Teddy Riley. Musically, The Boys mostly contains uptempo dance tracks and occasionally empowerment ballads.

Alive is the fifth Korean extended play by South Korean boy group Big Bang, released through YG Entertainment on February 29, 2012. Musically, it is a dance and electronic record that incorporates elements of hip hop and R&B. BigBang members G-Dragon and T.O.P wrote and produced the lyrics and music for nearly all tracks on the album. Alive spawned three digital singles that were released within the week prior—"Blue", "Fantastic Baby", and "Bad Boy", all three of which peaked within the top three positions on the Gaon Digital Chart.

Mr.Mr. is the fourth extended play (EP) by South Korean girl group Girls' Generation. The EP consists of six tracks and it incorporates electropop and R&B-pop music genres. It was released for digital download by SM Entertainment and KT Music on February 24, 2014. The CD and digital version were released in Hong Kong on the same day, and was made available for purchase on February 27 in South Korea. To promote the album, Girls' Generation appeared on several South Korean music programs including Music Bank and Inkigayo. The title track was released as a single. This is the final Korean EP featuring member Jessica who later left the group on September 30, 2014.

<i>2 Cool 4 Skool</i> 2013 single album by BTS

2 Cool 4 Skool is the debut single album released by South Korean boy band BTS on June 12, 2013, through Big Hit Entertainment and distributed by Loen. The album was supported by the singles "No More Dream" and "We Are Bulletproof Pt.2". Commercially, it peaked at number five on the Gaon Album Chart in South Korea, and at number ten on Billboard's World Albums Chart in the United States. The album has sold over 430,000 copies as of January 2022.
