List of Gaon Album Chart number ones of 2021

The Gaon Album Chart is a South Korean record chart that ranks the best-selling albums and EPs in South Korea. It is part of the Gaon Music Chart, which launched in February 2010. [1] The data is compiled by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Music Content Industry Association based upon weekly/monthly physical album sales by six major South Korean distributors: Kakao M, SM Entertainment, Sony Music Korea, Warner Music Korea, Universal Music and Stone Music Entertainment. [2]

Exo was formed by the Korean entertainment company SM Entertainment in 2011, and formerly consisted of twelve members separated into two sub-groups, Exo-K and Exo-M, releasing the same music simultaneously in both Korean and Mandarin in South Korea and China, respectively. The group's first release, the extended play Mama, was released in April 2012. The album topped Korean music charts on its release. With the release of Don't Mess Up My Tempo in November 2018, Exo became the first South Korean artist who debuted in the 21st century to sell 10 million albums cumulatively.

The group was formed by Korean entertainment company Cube Entertainment in 2012, and consists of six members. The group's first major release, the EP Born to Beat, was released on March 21, 2012.

South Korean boy band BTS has released nine studio albums, seven compilation albums, and six extended plays. In December 2018, BTS surpassed 10 million albums sold, setting the record for reaching that milestone in the shortest span of time among all Korean acts to have debuted since 2000, with five million of those albums being sold in South Korea that year alone. By April 2020, the group had sold over 20 million physical albums in South Korea, becoming the best-selling Korean act of all time in less than seven years. As of May 2023, they have sold over 44 million albums domestically.

Got7, a K-pop boy group based in South Korea, have released five studio albums, sixteen EPs, twenty-two singles, and two box sets. Formed by JYP Entertainment in 2013, Got7 made their debut in January 2014 with the EP Got It?, which debuted at number two on the Gaon Albums Chart. The EP's lead single "Girls Girls Girls" peaked at number 21 on the Gaon Singles Chart. In October 2014, Got7 debuted in Japan with their first Japanese-language release "Around the World", peaking at number three on the Oricon's singles charts. A month later, Got7 returned to Korea to release their first full-length album Identify, and topped the albums chart.

Up10tion is a South Korean boy band formed by TOP Media in 2015. The group currently consists of seven members: Kuhn, Kogyeol, Bitto, Sunyoul, Gyujin, Hwanhee and Xiao. The group debuted with their first extended play Top Secret. In 2017, they made their Japanese debut with EP ID. Originally as ten, Jinhoo, Lee Jin-hyuk and Kim Woo-seok departed from the group on February 28, 2023.

South Korean boy band NCT 127 have released five studio albums, four reissues, three live albums, seven extended plays, and nineteen singles. The group debuted in 2016 with their eponymous extended play and its lead single "Fire Truck" as a sub-unit of NCT. It was followed by two extended plays, Limitless and Cherry Bomb, released in 2017. Each spawned one single: "Limitless" and "Cherry Bomb". The following year, the group recorded a single, "Touch", for NCT's first studio album as a complete group, titled NCT 2018 Empathy. In May 2018, they debuted their first Japanese-language extended play, Chain. Its lead single of the name was their first song to chart on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. In October 2018, they released their first studio album, Regular-Irregular, and its lead single of the same name. The album was their first release to appear on the Billboard 200, charting at number 86. Regular-Irregular was followed shortly afterwards by the album's reissue, Regulate, and its lead single "Simon Says". That same year, they released a digital-exclusive Up Next extended play for Apple Music.
