  3. ^ The first annual Arrowhead High School Ski Meet, sponsored by Duluth Central High School was held on January 30, 1932 at Chester Park in Duluth. The only event was ski jumping. The second annual Arrowhead High School Ski Meet was held on February 19, 1933 in Chester Park and included cross-country ski run, and junior and senior high ski jumping
  4. ^ Due to the increased interest in skiing, the first state ski meet was held at Duluth on Saturday, February 17, 1934 and was again sponsored by Duluth Central High School. The Events were both junior and senior high cross-country skiing and ski jumping. This format was maintained through 1977, at which time ski jumping was eliminated

Wayzata High School is a comprehensive public high school in Plymouth, Minnesota, United States, a suburb of Minneapolis. The high school, operated by Wayzata Public Schools, had about 3669 students in grades 9 to 12 as of 2021-22, making it Minnesota's largest secondary school by enrollment. It is also Minnesota's largest secondary school by size, with an interior of 658,000 square feet (61,100 m2). The district boundaries include all or part of eight municipalities: Corcoran, Maple Grove, Medicine Lake, Medina, Minnetonka, Orono, Plymouth, and Wayzata. The school finished an expansion project in 2017 with the new capacity of 3,900. It is part of the Lake Conference. Scott Gengler is the principal.

Duluth Central High School, also known as Central High School, was a secondary school located in Duluth, Minnesota, which educated students in grades ten through twelve until seventh and eighth were added after the closing of Washington Junior High School in 1992. The U.S. Ski Team, operating under the auspices of U.S. Ski & Snowboard, develops and supports men's and women's athletes in the sports of alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, cross-country, ski jumping, and Nordic combined. Since 1974 the team and association have been headquartered in Park City, Utah.

George Hovland, Jr. was an American cross-country skier who had been competing since the 1950s. He represented the United States at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. Hovland was a four-time Central USSA four-event champion and completed every American Birkebeiner, with the exception of the first one, until 2012, completing his 33rd at age 85. He was the age group winner approximately twelve times. He was the age group champion for National Alpine NASTAR seven times and was the first non-European to complete the Swedish 90 kilometer Vasaloppet. Hovland was the founder of the Spirit Mountain Ski Area, Snowflake Nordic Ski Center in Duluth, Minnesota, and the Northshore Inline Marathon. He also owned the Ski Kenwood (Duluth) and Mont du Lac (Wisconsin) ski areas.

Proctor High School is a 9–12 secondary school in Proctor, Minnesota, United States that was established in 1912.

LW12 is a para-Alpine and para-Nordic sit skiing sport class defined by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). An LW12 skier needs to meet a minimum of one of several conditions including a single below knee but above ankle amputation, monoplegia that exhibits similar to below knee amputation, legs of different length where there is at least a 7 centimetres difference, combined muscle strength in the lower extremities less than 71. For international competitions, classification is done through IPC Alpine Skiing or IPC Nordic Skiing. For sub-international competitions, classification is done by a national federation such as Alpine Canada. For para-Alpine, this class is subdivided into two subclasses.: LW12.1 and LW12.2. A new sit-skier competitor with only national classification will compete as LW12.2 in international competitions until they have been internationally classified.
