Shrewsbury Town Football Club is a professional association football club based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. The team competes in League One, the third level of the English football league system.
Ryan Thomas Lowe is an English football manager and former professional player, who is manager of Championship side Preston North End. His playing career, as a striker, began at Burscough in 1999 and he became a Football League player with Shrewsbury Town the following year. He played for eight league clubs in all and had three spells at Bury. In the second half of the 2010–11 season, Lowe established a Bury club record by scoring a goal in each of nine consecutive league games.

Black made one appearance for Scotland in August 2012, despite playing at that time in the Scottish Third Division for Rangers.
James Ryan is an Irish former professional footballer that played as a midfielder. He made 419 league appearances in the EFL and was capped four times for the Republic of Ireland Under-21.

The 2015–16 season was Shrewsbury Town's 130th year in existence and their first season back in League One after gaining promotion the previous season. Much of the season was spent fighting relegation, with safety only secured following the final home match of the season where despite losing to Peterborough United, same day defeats for Blackpool and Doncaster Rovers ensured another season of League One football with one game to spare.
The 2016–17 season was Shrewsbury Town's 131st year in existence and their second consecutive season in League One after finishing in 20th place the previous season.
