Arunachal Pradesh is a state in northeast India. It was formed from the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) region,and India declared it as a state on 20 February 1987. Itanagar is its capital and largest town. It borders the Indian states of Assam and Nagaland to the south. It shares international borders with Bhutan in the west,Myanmar in the east,and a disputed 1,129 km border with China's Tibet Autonomous Region in the north at the McMahon Line.
Bagan is an ancient city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. From the 9th to 13th centuries,the city was the capital of the Bagan Kingdom,the first kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute Myanmar. During the kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th centuries,more than 10,000 Buddhist temples,pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone,of which the remains of over 2200 temples and pagodas survive.
India is a federal union comprising 28 states and 8 union territories,with a total of 36 entities. The states and union territories are further subdivided into districts and smaller administrative divisions.
Sittwe is the capital of Rakhine State,Myanmar (Burma). Sittwe,pronounced sait-tway in the Rakhine language,is located on an estuarial island created at the confluence of the Kaladan,Mayu,and Lay Mro rivers emptying into the Bay of Bengal. As of 2006 the city has 181,000 inhabitants. It is the administrative seat of Sittwe Township and Sittwe District.
Pyin Oo Lwin or Pyin U Lwin,formerly and colloquially referred to as Maymyo,is a scenic hill town in the Mandalay Region,Myanmar,some 67 kilometers (42 mi) east of Mandalay,and at an elevation of 1,070 metres (3,510 ft). The town was estimated to have a population of around 255,000 in 2014.
The provinces of India,earlier presidencies of British India and still earlier,presidency towns,were the administrative divisions of British governance on the Indian subcontinent. Collectively,they have been called British India. In one form or another,they existed between 1612 and 1947,conventionally divided into three historical periods:
British rule in Burma lasted from 1824 to 1948,from the successive three Anglo-Burmese wars through the creation of Burma as a province of British India to the establishment of an independently administered colony,and finally independence. The region under British control was known as British Burma,and officially known as Burma from 1886. Various portions of Burmese territories,including Arakan and Tenasserim were annexed by the British after their victory in the First Anglo-Burmese War;Lower Burma was annexed in 1852 after the Second Anglo-Burmese War. The annexed territories were designated the minor province of British Burma in 1862.
Zo is a Northern Kuki-Chin-Mizo language originating in western Burma and spoken also in Mizoram and Manipur in northeastern India.
Bangladesh's military history is intertwined with the history of a larger region,including present-day India,Pakistan,Nepal,Bhutan and Myanmar. The country was historically part of Bengal –a major power in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
India–Thailand relations,also called Indian-Thai relations or Indo-Thai relations,are the bilateral relations between India and Thailand. Relations were established in 1947,soon after India gained independence. Priests have provided a cultural link between the two countries since 1500 BCE. India shares a long sea border with Thailand as India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand along the Andaman Sea. Since 2001,both countries have witnessed growing warmth,increasing economic and commercial links,exchange of high-level visits,and the signing of various agreements leading to a further intensification of relations. Thailand and India are cooperating in various multilateral fora like India's dialogue partnership with ASEAN,the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF),and the East Asia Summit,the sub-regional grouping BIMSTEC involving Bangladesh,India,Sri Lanka,Thailand,Myanmar,Nepal and Bhutan,and trilateral transport linkages with Thailand,Myanmar and India. India is a member of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) initiated by Thailand in 2002 and of the Mekong–Ganga Cooperation (MGC),a group of six countries.
The Kabaw Valley also known as Kubo valley is a highland valley in Myanmar's western Sagaing division,close to the border with India's Manipur. The valley is located between Heerok or Yoma ranges of mountains,which constitute the present day border of Manipur,and the Chindwin River. The valley is home to a number of ethnic groups including the some Meitei,or Meilhei by the Thadou people and With the majority being Thadou people,with the rest Kuki people/Zo people and minorities like the Kadu and the Kanan.
Sivaramakrishna Iyer Padmavati was an Indian cardiologist. She was director of the National Heart Institute,Delhi,and the founder president of the All India Heart Foundation. The institute collaborates with the World Health Organization (WHO) in training students in preventive cardiology. Padmavati was awarded India's second highest civilian honour,the Padma Vibhushan in 1992. Padmavati,an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences,was the first woman cardiologist in India and established the first cardiac clinic and cardiac catheter lab in India.
India–Tanzania relations refers to the current and historical relations between India and Tanzania. India has a High Commission in Dar es Salaam,Tanzania has a High Commission in New Delhi,which is also accredited to Sri Lanka,Nepal,Bangladesh and Myanmar. Diplomatic relations are described as close,friendly and cooperative. 15,000 Indians visited Tanzania in 2007. In May 2011,Ex Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh calls for strengthen cooperation with Tanzania. Trade between India and Tanzania amounted to 31 billion dollars in 2009–2010 and India is Tanzania's second-largest investor.
Tangkhul is a Sino-Tibetan language of the Tangkhulic branch,spoken in 168 villages of Ukhrul district,Manipur,India. The term "Tangkhul" is derived from the Meitei language terms,"Tang" meaning "scarce" and "Khul" meaning "village" respectively. According to another theory,the term "Tangkhul" is derived from "Thankhul",meaning "Than village" in Meitei language.
The Burmese community in India consists of refugees,immigrants and expatriates from Burma as well as Indian citizens of Burmese ancestry. The 2014 Myanmar Census enumerated 17,975 Burmese individuals living in India.
The 2016 BRICS summit was the eighth annual BRICS summit,an international relations conference attended by the heads of country or heads of government of the five member countries Brazil,Russia,India,China and South Africa. The summit was held from 15 to 16 October 2016 at the Taj Exotica hotel in Benaulim,Goa,India. India holds the chair of the BRICS from February 2016 to December 2016.
India–Myanmar–Thailand Trilateral Highway,1,360 km (850 mi) long route,is a 4-lane highway under construction under India's Look East policy that will connect Moreh,India with Mae Sot,Thailand via Myanmar. Imphal-Mandalay-Bangkok 1,813 km (1,127 mi) route,consisting of Imphal-Mandalay 584 km (363 mi) and Mandalay-Bangkok 1,397 km (868 mi),is a highway in good condition except for 101 km (63 mi) part of 120 km (75 mi) long Kalewa-Yagyi stretch being built to 2-lane in each direction highway by India.
Arakan is the historical geographical name of Rakhine State,Myanmar. The region was called Arakan for centuries until the Burmese military junta changed its name in 1989. The people of the region were known as Arakanese.
