<i>Modernisme</i> Architectural and artistic movement originating in Catalonia, Spain

Modernisme, also known as Catalan modernism and Catalan art nouveau, is the historiographic denomination given to an art and literature movement associated with the search of a new entitlement of Catalan culture, one of the most predominant cultures within Spain. Nowadays, it is considered a movement based on the cultural revindication of a Catalan identity. Its main form of expression was Modernista architecture, but it also encompassed many other arts, such as painting and sculpture, and especially the design and the decorative arts, which were particularly important, especially in their role as support to architecture. Modernisme was also a literary movement.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Josep Puig i Cadafalch</span> Catalan architect (1867–1957)

Josep Puig i Cadafalch was a Spanish Modernista architect who designed many significant buildings in Barcelona, and a politician who had a significant role in the development of Catalan institutions. He was the architect of the Casa Martí, which became a place of ideas, projects and social gatherings for such well-known Catalans as Santiago Rusiñol and Ramon Casas.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kato Vermio</span> Community in Greece

Kato Vermio is, primarily, an Aromanian (Vlach) Greek village and a community of the Veria municipality. Since the 2001 local government reform it is part of the municipality of Veria, of which is a municipal district. The 2021 census recorded 268 residents in the village. The altitude of the village is 1400-1550 meters, making it, probably, the highest populated village in Greece. There are about 1250 households in the village. The community of Kato Vermio-Seli covers an area of 38.915 km2.

Luis Puig Palace is an arena in Valencia, Spain. It is primarily used for indoor sports and hosted the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships. The arena also hosts a 250 metres (270 yd) painted concrete cycling track which played host to the 1992 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. It has a capacity of 6,500 people. The arena is named after Luis Puig, a prominent Spanish sports executive who served as President of the Union Cycliste Internationale.

The Illa de la Discòrdia or Mansana de la Discòrdia — "Block of Discord"; Spanish: Manzana de la Discordia — is a city block on Passeig de Gràcia in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The block is noted for having buildings by four of Barcelona's most important Modernista architects, Lluís Domènech i Montaner, Antoni Gaudí, Josep Puig i Cadafalch and Enric Sagnier, in close proximity. As the four architects' styles were very different, the buildings clash with each other and the neighboring buildings. They were all built in the early years of the 20th century.

The 1931 Barcelona City Council election was held on Sunday, 12 April 1931, to elect the Barcelona City Council, the unicameral local legislature of the municipality of Barcelona. This was the first election under the Dictatorship of Primo de Rivera. At stake were all 50 seats in the City Council, determining the Mayor of Barcelona. The election was perceived as a plebiscite on Spanish Monarchy. The results lead to the Second Spanish Republic.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Josep Lluís Trapero Álvarez</span> Mossos dEsquadra Major

Josep Lluís Trapero Álvarez is the current Mossos d'Esquadra Major, the highest rank in the Catalan Police. On 28 October 2017, the Spanish government declared him removed from his post, after its invocation of Article 155 of the Spanish Constitution, suspending Catalonia's autonomy. In 2020, he was restored to his position of Major after being acquitted of wrongdoing by the Audiencia Nacional. Trapero started his career as a Mosso in 1990 and after years of service he was granted the position of Commissioner in 2013. In 2017, after 26 years of service, he achieved the rank of Major, succeeding Joan Unió.

Lluís Puig i Gordi is an art director, dancer, musician, folklorist and Spanish politician from Catalonia. He was Minister of Culture of Catalonia, the department in charge of the libraries, language and heritage preservation, historical commemorations... He succeeded Santi Vila on 5 July 2017.

The Maria Àngels Anglada Prize is a Catalan literary award, given annually by the Institut Ramon Muntaner, in Figueres (Spain), with the aim of contributing to the promotion of Catalan literature, reaffirming the civic and cultural projection of the school and extolling the memory of the writer Maria Àngels Anglada, ex-professor of the centre. The award has the support of the Geli-Anglada family and the sponsorship of the Ajuntament de Figueres and the Diputació de Girona, as well as the collaboration of the Consell Comarcal de l'Alt Empordà.
