Kitwe is the third largest city in terms of infrastructure development and second largest city in terms of size and population in Zambia. With a population of 517,543 Kitwe is one of the most developed commercial and industrial areas in the nation, alongside Ndola and Lusaka. It has a complex of mines on its north-western and western edges.
The University of Zambia (UNZA) is a public university located in Lusaka, Zambia. It is Zambia's largest and oldest learning institution. The university was established in 1965 and officially opened to the public on 12 July 1966. The language of instruction is English.

The Copperbelt University is a public university in Kitwe, Zambia. It is the second largest public university in Zambia. The language of instruction at the university is English.
Rusangu University, formerly known as Zambia Adventist University, is a private coeducational Christian university based in Rusangu Mission near Monze in Zambia. It is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This is considered one of the best universities in Zambia and in Africa region. This is known for its academic standards and research contributions.

Lottie Mwale was a Zambian male Light Heavyweight-class boxer who was Commonwealth and African Boxing Union champion for a period of six years. Mwale also won the World Boxing Council (WBC) International title after defeating Ray Acquaye of Ghana in eight rounds in Lusaka in December 1990.
The University Teaching Hospital (UTH), formerly Lusaka Hospital, is the biggest public tertiary hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. It is the largest hospital with 1,655 beds. It is a teaching hospital and, as such, is used to train local medical students, nurses and other health professionals. UTH is the main medical training institution in Zambia for doctors, nurses, clinical officers and other health professionals. It provides primary, secondary and tertiary care.
University of Lusaka (UNILUS) is a private university founded in 2007 in Lusaka, Zambia. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Cavendish University Zambia (CUZ) is a private university located in Lusaka, Zambia. It was opened in 2004 and is the first private university to operate in Zambia. The university is registered with the Higher Education Authority which is a grant aided institution established under the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013. Cavendish is also affiliated with the Association of African Universities (AAU).
Texila American University Zambia is a private university in Lusaka, Zambia. It received its academic charter from the Higher Education Authority of Zambia in 2016 and is part of the Texila American University Consortium. The university offers several bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and PhD programs, principally in the medical sciences.

The Alliance International University (AIU) is an unaccredited university in the Caribbean, which formerly operated from Lusaka, Zambia. It has been described as "an online scam" by Undark Magazine. It has no physical campus and all its activities take place online.

The Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (LMUTH) is a public tertiary referral hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. The hospital has 1100 beds and was named after the former president of Zambia, Levy Mwanawasa. It was found in 2011 and was established on 22 May 2018 as part of Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU). It serves nearly 7 million people, referred from several hospitals in the province of Lusaka, as well as other several neighboring countries such as Malawi, Angola and Tanzania.
