Kitwe is the third largest city in terms of infrastructure development and second largest city in terms of size and population in Zambia. With a population of 517,543 Kitwe is one of the most developed commercial and industrial areas in the nation, alongside Ndola and Lusaka. It has a complex of mines on its north-western and western edges.
The University of Zambia (UNZA) is a public university located in Lusaka, Zambia. It is Zambia's largest and oldest learning institution. The university was established in 1965 and officially opened to the public on 12 July 1966. The language of instruction is English.
Lower education in Zambia is divided into three levels and these are namely: primary, junior secondary and upper secondary. Higher education in Zambia has improved in the recent years due to the increase of private universities and colleges. The biggest university is the public University of Zambia which is located in the capital city of Lusaka along the great east road and hosts a number of local and international students. The Copperbelt University is the second largest public university and is located in the Copperbelt province of Zambia in Kitwe, and the youngest public university is Mulungushi University, with its main campus 26 km north of Kabwe. Rusangu University, formerly known as Zambia Adventist University, is a private coeducational Christian university based in Rusangu Mission near Monze in Zambia. It is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This is considered one of the best universities in Zambia and in Africa region. This is known for its academic standards and research contributions.

Lottie Mwale was a Zambian male Light Heavyweight-class boxer who was Commonwealth and African Boxing Union champion for a period of six years. Mwale, who is Zambia’s greatest boxer, also won the World Boxing Council (WBC) International title after defeating Ray Acquaye of Ghana in eight rounds in Lusaka in December 1990.
The University Teaching Hospital (UTH), formerly Lusaka Hospital, is the biggest public tertiary hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. It is the largest hospital with 1,655 beds. It is a teaching hospital and, as such, is used to train local medical students, nurses and other health professionals. UTH is the main medical training institution in Zambia for doctors, nurses, clinical officers and other health professionals. It provides primary, secondary and tertiary care.
University of Lusaka (UNILUS) is a private university founded in 2007 in Lusaka, Zambia. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Cavendish University Zambia (CUZ) is a private university located in Lusaka, Zambia. It was opened in 2004 and is the first private university to operate in Zambia. The university is registered with the Higher Education Authority which is a grant aided institution established under the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013. Cavendish is also affiliated with the Association of African Universities (AAU).
Dr. Gertrude Mwangala Akapelwa is a former Zambian IBM systems engineer former African Development Bank ICT Infrastructure and Operations Division Manager and academic, who serves as the Vice Chancellor of Victoria Falls University of Technology (VFU), an institution she helped establish in 2002.

Rockview University is privately owned and operated university located in Lusaka, Zambia. It is one of the fastest growing universities in Zambia and keeps seeing an exponential increase in the number of admissions each and every year. Every year, Rockview embarks on a country-wide interview program in which it awards bursaries to school leavers as well as those in service and would like to upgrade their studies. Lady Justice Lombe Chibesa is currently serving as the university chancellor.
Lusaka Apex Medical University is a private university in Zambia. It was established in 2008 and has continued to provide the most modern way of learning medicine in the country.
The Higher Education Authority (HEA) of Zambia was established under the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013 in order to provide quality assurance, regulation of private and public higher education institutions and registration of private higher education institutions.
Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU), is a public university in Lusaka, Zambia. It is the country’s first ever specialized University for health studies.
The Alliance International University (AIU) is an unaccredited university in the Caribbean, which formerly operated from Lusaka, Zambia. It has been described as "an online scam" by Undark Magazine. It has no physical campus and all its activities take place online.
Given Katuta Mwelwa is a Zambian politician and member of parliament for Chiengi. She was first elected to parliament in 2016.
The Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (LMUTH) is a public tertiary referral hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. The hospital has 1100 beds and was named after the former president of Zambia, Levy Mwanawasa. It was found in 2011 and was established on 22 May 2018 as part of Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU). It serves nearly 7 million people, referred from several hospitals in the province of Lusaka, as well as other several neighboring countries such as Malawi, Angola and Tanzania.
