Loxobates is a genus of spiders in the family Thomisidae. It was first described in 1877 by Tamerlan Thorell. As of 2017 [update] , it contains 10 Asian species. [1]
Loxobates comprises the following species: [1]
The Thomisidae are a family of spiders, including about 170 genera and over 2,100 species. The common name crab spider is often linked to species in this family, but is also applied loosely to many other families of spiders. Many members of this family are also known as flower spiders or flower crab spiders.
Misumena is a genus of crab spiders sometimes referred to as flower crab spiders. They are similar in appearance to several other genera in the family Thomisidae, such as Misumenoides and Mecaphesa.
Myrmarachne is a genus of ant-mimicking jumping spiders that was first described by W. S. MacLeay in 1839. They are commonly called antmimicking spiders, but they are not the only spiders that have this attribute. The name is a combination of Ancient Greek μύρμηξ, meaning "ant", and ἀράχνη, meaning "spider".
Telamonia is a genus of jumping spiders that was first described by Tamerlan Thorell in 1887. They are colorful spiders, with patterns that vary considerably between sexes and species. Two longitudinal stripes along the abdomen are common, and the carapace is often colored. They have a slender opisthosoma and long legs.
Diaea is a genus of crab spiders first described by Tamerlan Thorell in 1869. Most species are found in specific locations except for D. livens, which occurs in the United States and D. dorsata, which has a palearctic distribution. Adults are 5 millimetres (0.20 in) to 7 millimetres (0.28 in) and tend to hide in and around vegetation, especially flowers, where their color allows them to blend in to their surroundings.
Cyclosa, also called trashline orbweavers, is a genus of orb-weaver spiders first described by Anton Menge in 1866. Widely distributed worldwide, spiders of the genus Cyclosa build relatively small orb webs with a web decoration. The web decoration in Cyclosa spiders is often linear and includes prey remains and other debris, which probably serve to camouflage the spider. The name "Cyclosa" comes from Greek 'to move in a circle', referring to how it spins its web.
Clubiona is a genus of sac spiders that was first described by Pierre André Latreille in 1804.
Thomisus is a genus of crab spiders with around 150 species described. The genus includes species that vary widely in their ecology, with some that ambush predators that feed on insects visiting flowers. Like several other genera in the family Thomisidae, they are sometimes referred to as flower crab spiders, from their crab-like motion and their way of holding their front legs, reminiscent of a crab spreading its claws as a threat.
Borboropactus is a genus of crab spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1884.
Epidius is a genus of crab spiders that was first described by Tamerlan Thorell in 1877. It is a senior synonym of Pothaeus.
Stiphropus is a genus of crab spiders in the family Thomisidae, containing twenty species from Africa and Asia.
Eriovixia is a genus of orb-weaver spiders first described by Allan Frost Archer in 1951.
Dendrolycosa is a genus of nursery web spiders that was first described by Carl Ludwig Doleschall in 1859.
Hygropoda is a genus of nursery web spiders that was first described by Tamerlan Thorell in 1894.
Camaricus is a genus of crab spiders that was first described by Tamerlan Thorell in 1887.
Cebrenninus is a genus of crab spiders that was first described by S. P. Benjamin in 2016. It is a senior synonym of Ascurisoma.
Ebrechtella is a genus of crab spiders that was first described by Friedrich Dahl in 1907.
Lysiteles is a genus of Asian crab spiders first described by Eugène Simon in 1895.
Taypaliito is a genus of spiders in the family Thomisidae. It was first described in 1995 by Barrion & Litsinger. As of 2017, it contains only one species, Taypaliito iorebotco, found in the Philippines.
Tharrhalea is a genus of crab spiders first described in 1875 by Ludwig Carl Christian Koch.
