The Medina Metro or Madinah Metro is a planned three-line metro system for the city of Medina, Saudi Arabia. [1]
On 4 November 2013 the Saudi cabinet announced that a metro would be built in Madinah within eight years. [2] A committee for the project was to be chaired by the Governor of Medina, Prince Faisal bin Salman. [2]
In March 2015 the Madinah Metro Development Authority (MMDA) awarded French companies Systra (consortium leader) and Egis Group a 12-month contract to carry out feasibility studies and produce preliminary design for the metro. [1] The network is to be built in two phases for opening in 2020s. [1]

Transport in Qatar is primarily centered around the Doha Metropolitan Area (DMA), where approximately 2 million people reside and work. Transport in Saudi Arabia is facilitated through a relatively young system of roads, railways and seaways. Most of the network started construction after the discovery of oil in the Eastern Province in 1952, with the notable exception of Highway 40, which was built to connect the capital Riyadh to the economically productive Eastern Province, and later to the Islamic holy city of Mecca and the port city of Jeddah. With the economic growth of the 1970s, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has initiated many infrastructure development projects across the country, and the extensive development of the transportation network has followed suit in support of various economic developments.

Around 58.5% of the population are Saudi citizens and 41.5% are foreigners. Jeddah, alternatively transliterated as Jedda, Jiddah or Jidda, is the largest city in Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia, and the country's second largest city after Riyadh, located along the Red Sea coast in the Hejaz region. Jeddah is the commercial center of the country. It is not known when Jeddah was founded, but Jeddah's prominence grew in 647 when the Caliph Uthman made it a travel hub serving Muslim travelers going to the holy city of Mecca for Islamic pilgrimage. Since those times, Jeddah has served as the gateway for millions of pilgrims who have arrived in Saudi Arabia, traditionally by sea and recently by air.

The Dubai Metro is known for its efficiency, cleanliness, and extensive coverage of the city. The metro system consists of a network of two main lines: the Red Line and the Green Line, with more lines planned for future expansion.
Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport or Medina Airport is a regional airport in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Opened in 1950, it handles domestic flights, while it has scheduled international services to regional destinations such as Cairo, Dubai, Istanbul and Kuwait City. Medina Airport also handles charter international flights during the Hajj and Umrah seasons. The Pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah can enter Saudi Arabia through this airport or through Jeddah Airport only. It is the fourth busiest airport in Saudi Arabia, handling 8,144,790 passengers in 2018.

The Haramain High Speed Railway, is a passenger railway serving the Mecca and Medina provinces in western Saudi Arabia. The 449.2-kilometre-long (279.1 mi) main line directly connects the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina, via Jeddah and the King Abdullah Economic City. A 3.75-kilometre (2.33 mi) branch line provides connections to the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. It opened to the public on 11 October 2018.

The Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro Line, is a metro line in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Claimed to have the highest capacity of any metro in the world, it operates for seven days a year, and is used exclusively as a shuttle train for pilgrims between holy sites in Mecca, Mount Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina to reduce congestion caused by thousands of buses and cars during the Hajj. It is the second metro system on the Arabian Peninsula, after the Dubai Metro.
The Riyadh Metro is a rapid transit system in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Partially opened in November 2024, it is part of the King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport.
The Jeddah Metro is a metro system currently under construction in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Several lines will be built over the course of at least five years that eventually aim to increase public transport commuter share to 30% from the current 1%-2%.
The Doha Metro is a rapid transit system in the Doha Metropolitan Area of Qatar's capital city Doha, which became operational on 8 May 2019. It has three lines with an approximate overall length of 76 km (47 mi) and 37 stations. It is an integral component of the larger Qatar Rail network, which will include a long-distance rail for passengers and freight, linking Qatar to the GCC, and the Lusail LRT. Capable of reaching 100 km/h (62 mph), the Doha Metro has one of the fastest driverless trains in the world.
