The Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) is a public exhibition showcasing international and local films in Malaysia. Accompanying this event is the Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA) where the organisation Jazzy Group recognises filmmakers for their significant performances throughout the entire year. Both events were established in 2016. The mission of the MGGA is to let the enthusiasm and passionate filmmakers all around world to promote their films together and to let them to embrace freedom of film making while achieve their dreams. In 2021, Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) organised a short film competition in partnership with vivo. A smartphone is required during the contest of the 5 minute short-film and the theme of the film is "Humanity". [6]

The 4th Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) was postponed to 2021 without an annual awards ceremony. The Film Festival was held virtually in January 2021. [7]

The 5th Miffest 2022 is a collaboration with the 24th Udine Far East Film Festival (FEFF) for the competition partnership this year. Both events intend to gain the milestone of making a bridge among the movie industries in the East and the West. The event took place from 10 to 15 July 2022, with the awards ceremony on 16 July 2022 at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur. [8] [9] [10]

Malaysia International Film Festival and Golden Global Awards 6th edition captures the "New Take" with a partnership with Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), Buncheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), and the second year of collaboration with Udine Far East Film Festival (FEFF). This year's festival includes not only indoor cinema, but also open air cinema which will be held in lalaport, Bukit Bintang from 23 to 29 July 2023.

Jiang Wen is a Chinese actor, screenwriter, and director. As a director, he is sometimes grouped with the "Sixth Generation" that emerged in the 1990s. Jiang is also well known internationally as an actor, having starred with Gong Li in Zhang Yimou's debut film Red Sorghum (1986), and more recently as Baze Malbus in the Star Wars film Rogue One (2016). He is the older brother of fellow actor Jiang Wu.

Across the Furious Sea is a 2023 Chinese crime thriller drama film directed and co-written by Cao Baoping, and starring Huang Bo, Zhou Xun, Zu Feng, Zhang Youhao and Zhou Yiran. The film was adapted from the novel by Lao Huang of the same name published in Fiction Monthly. It is the last instalment of Cao's "Heartburn trilogy" following The Dead End and The Perfect Blue. The film is also the first live-action domestic film in the history of mainland China's film industry to feature an age rating label mandated by the National Film Administration, in accordance with the Film Industry Promotion Law. It was released theatrically in China on November 25, 2023.
