Malian clubs in African competitions

Malian football clubs have participated in African football competitions since 1965. In total, Malian clubs have participated in African competitions. The biggest success was the participation of Stade Malien in the finals at the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup and Stade Malien and became the only Malian club to win a continental cup title, later Stade Malien was the only Malian club who appeared in the CAF Super Cup in 2010 where they lost the title to Democratic Congo's TP Mazembe.

CAF Confederation Cup Annual football competition organized by Confederation of African football

The CAF Confederation Cup, officially named Total CAF Confederation Cup, is an annual club association football competition organised by the CAF since 2004. Clubs qualify for the competition based on their performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. It is the second-tier competition of African club football, ranking below the CAF Champions League. The winner of the tournament faces the winner of the CAF Champions League in the following season's CAF Super Cup.

Djoliba AC Malian football club

Djoliba Athletic Club is a Malian football club and one of the two biggest teams in Mali alongside the Stade Malien. The team is based in the capital city of Bamako. It has its headquarters and three training stadia at Complex Sportif Hérémakono, in the Heremakono Quartier. The President of Djoliba AC, re-elected in 2009 to a four-year term, is Karounga Keita a Vice President of the Malian Football Federation, former trainer at the club, who was a player at the founding of the club in 1960. Djoliba or Joliba is the name of the Niger River in the Bamana language. Not only a football club, Djoliba AC is an Omnisports club which fields teams in many sports, and is operated as a membership organisation with an elected board.

Stade Malien Malian football club

Stade Malien is a Malian professional football and sports club based in Bamako. One of the two dominant clubs of Malian football, their eastern Bamako training grounds host other sports as well, including a successful basketball club.

Malian Première Division is the top division of football in Mali. Having been created in 1966, it is governed by the Malian Football Federation. The league has been professional since 2004. The official name is Ligue 1 Orange Mali for sponsorship reasons.

The 2007–08 Malian Première Division was the 43rd season of Malian top flight football. It took place over 26 rounds between 15 December 2007 and 1 September 2008, with fourteen clubs. The champion qualified for the 2009 CAF Champions League and the bottom two clubs were relegated to the lower division. Stade Malien started the season as the holders for the third time in a row, however Djoliba AC won their 20th title and qualified for the 2009 CAF Champions League. At the time in the number of titles, Djoliba had 20 titles and formed one of the most of any amateur championships in the world, overall it may be around the top ten range of any clubs who had 20+ championship titles in the world at the time.

In Mali, football is played widely and followed avidly, football is the most popular sport in Mali. Large professional clubs and international competition draw much popular attention, and the sport is played as a pastime.

The 2012 CAF Confederation Cup Final was the final of 2012 CAF Confederation Cup, the 9th edition of the CAF Confederation Cup, Africa's secondary club football competition organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Moussa Coulibaly is a Malian football defender who currently plays for Iranian football club Foolad in the Persian Gulf Pro League.

The 2012–13 Malian Première Division is the 48th edition of the highest club level football competition in Mali. Stade Malien won their 18th national title and qualified into the 2014 CAF Champions League the following season. Real Bamako also qualified into the CAF Champions League the following season. The 2019-20 Malian Première Division was the 53rd season of the highest level of professional football in Mali, and the first complete season since the 2016 season. The championship was contested by 23 teams between August 2019 and September 2020. The championship was interrupted after 21 matchdays in March 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic, and resumed in August 2020 with the 22nd and final matchday, along with the championship and relegation play-offs. Stade Malien won their 22nd title and equalled Djoliba AC's record.
