Career

Formed in 2021 in Baku, all members of Mamagama had previous experience in musical ensembles. [1] [2] The group began performing at various international festivals. [3]

In 2022, Mamagama participated in Kënga Magjike, one of the main Albanian music festivals together with Festivali i Këngës, where they won the first prize in the "international artists" section thanks to their single "Dreamer". [2] Towards the end of the year, they applied to represent Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Despite being selected among the five final candidates, [4] İctimai Television (İTV) ended up choosing the duo TuralTuranX as its representatives for the contest in Liverpool. [5]

On 4 February 2025, İTV announced that it had internally selected Mamagama to represent Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. [3]

Musical style

In their music, Mamagama combine elements of traditional music with more modern sounds tending towards indie pop and alternative rock. [1] [6]
