Marco Lo Muscio (born 1971) is an Italian organist, pianist and composer, who lives and works in Italy, Europe, Russian Federation and America.

Biography

Marco Lo Muscio was born in Rome, Italy. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18]

Marco Lo Muscio studied Piano at the Licinio Refice Conservatory in Italy. He earned a degree in Piano with Professor Tonino Maiorani and a degree in Musical Pedagogy with Professor Giulio Sforza at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica in Frosinone (Italy) and at the Roma Tre University (Italy).

He also obtained a degree of Advanced Studies in Piano at the Academy Bartolomeo Cristofori with the pianist Sergio Fiorentino, and a specialization in Pipe Organ with James Edward Goettsche.

Since 2004, he has been the art director of the International Organ Summer Festival in Rome, Italy, where internationally acclaimed organists and musicians performed such as Jean Guillou, Thomas Trotter, Stephen Tharp, Roger Sayer, Roger Fisher, Martin Baker, Pauli Pietiläinen, Aivars Kalējs, John Hackett, Pär Lindh, Jakob Lorentzen, Kevin Bowyer, David Briggs, Christopher Herrick, David Jackson, John Scott, Colin Walsh, Carson Cooman, Andrew Nethsingha, Martin Setchell, Alessandro Bianchi, Jean-Paul Imbert, Gail Archer.

The pipe organ is a musical instrument that produces sound by driving pressurised air through the organ pipes selected from a keyboard. Because each pipe produces a single pitch, the pipes are provided in sets called ranks, each of which has a common timbre and volume throughout the keyboard compass. Most organs have many ranks of pipes of differing pitch, timbre, and volume that the player can employ singly or in combination through the use of controls called stops.

Priory Records is a record company in the UK founded in 1980, and devoted mostly to church music and organ music. Important projects have included the complete Psalms sung by cathedral choirs to Anglican chant, all of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis settings by Herbert Howells, the "British Church Composer Series", the "Choral and Music from English Cathedrals", the "Music for Evensong" and, more recently, all the hymns in the complete New English Hymnal Series. There are also three discs of the Communion Service settings of Stanford and four further discs featuring settings of the Te Deum and Jubilate.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">John Scott (organist)</span> Musical artist

John Gavin Scott was an English organist and choirmaster who reached the highest levels of his profession on both sides of the Atlantic. He directed the Choir of St Paul's Cathedral in London from 1990 to 2004. He then directed the Choir of Men and Boys of Saint Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue in New York City until his death at age 59. Whilst training countless young musicians, he maintained an active career as an international concert performer and recording artist, and was acclaimed as "the premier English organist of his generation".

Colin Walsh is an English organist, who has played many recitals in various religious venues in England as well as two at the Royal Festival Hall. He has also played in many European countries and New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the USA. Some of his work has been released on the Priory label. He has worked as an organist or assistant organist at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle; Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford; Salisbury Cathedral (1978-1985); St Albans Cathedral (1985-1988); and Lincoln Cathedral. In July 2002 there were plans to sack Walsh, whom The Telegraph described as "one of Europe's finest church organists", after differences with the Precentor, Andrew Stokes; however this plan was dropped and he was given a new role. Since January 2003 he has been Organist Laureate of Lincoln Cathedral. Colin Walsh has an honorary doctorate from Lincoln University.

Francesca Massey is the former Organist and Director of Music at Rochester Cathedral, a position she held from September 2019 to August 2022, when she was succeeded by Adrian Bawtree. Previously she was Sub-Organist at Durham Cathedral from 2011. In addition to being a professional Church/Concert Organist, Massey is actively engaged as a Choral Conductor, Pianist, Organ and Music Teacher both privately and on behalf of Durham University, Oundle for Organists and the RSCM.
