Margan (Persian : مرگان‎, also Romanized as Margān)^[1] is a village in Alan Rural District, in the Central District of Sardasht County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its existence was noted, but its population was not reported.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is a pluricentric language primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Alan Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Sardasht County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 4,489, in 939 families. The rural district has 40 villages.

The Central District of Sardasht County is a district (bakhsh) in Sardasht County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 72,777, in 15,071 families. The District has two cities: Sardasht and Rabat. The District has four rural districts (dehestan): Alan Rural District, Baryaji Rural District, Bask-e Kuleseh Rural District, and Gavork-e Sardasht Rural District.
