Tonga participated in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, which were held from 27 July to 12 August 2012. The country's participation in London marked its eighth appearance in the Summer Olympics since its debut at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The delegation included three competitors: two in athletics, Joseph Andy Lui and ʻAna Poʻuhila, along with one short distance swimmer Amini Fonua. The latter entry was Tonga's first appearance in Olympic swimming competition. Lui and Fonua qualified through wildcard places while Po'uhila made the games by meeting qualification standards. Fonua was selected as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony while Lui held it at the closing ceremony. Lui and Fonua failed to progress farther than the preliminary round of their respective events while Po'uhila finished 29th in the heat stage of the women's shot put contest.
Donald Mark Witherspoon is an American former sprinter. He joined his high school track team after having success as a cornerback on the football team. In college, he was primarily a 200 m and 400 m runner. He recorded an impressive 19.3 200 m split on a 4 × 200 m and a 43.9 440 yd leg on a 4x440 yd while in college. As a professional, he competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics, where he tore his achilles tendon.
Glenn Andrew Mark Snyders is a South African-born former competitive swimmer for New Zealand. He won the silver medal in the 50 m breaststroke at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in a time of 27.67 seconds. He currently holds the New Zealand records for 50 m, 100 m and 200 m breaststroke in both long course and short course.
Elizabeth Rose Keddell is a New Zealand field hockey player. She has competed for the New Zealand women's national field hockey team since 2012, including at the 2014 Women's Hockey World Cup and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Claude Prosser Clegg was a New Zealand javelin thrower, who represented his country at the 1950 British Empire Games.
Zoe Hobbs is a New Zealand track and field sprinter competing in the 60 metres, 100 m and 200 m. She is the Oceanian indoor record holder for the 60 m and the Oceanian record holder for the 100 m.
