Vaishya Vani is a sub-caste of Vaishyas, one of the varnas of Hinduism. Because of their hereditary occupation as traders and merchants, they are found in many regions in India, including Konkan, Bihar, some parts of the Canara subregion of Carnataca& the Cochin area in Kerala. In the Konkan division of Maharashtra, there were subdivisions of Vani communities, like Kudali in Savantwadi, Sangameshwari in Ratnagiri& Patne in Satara. Keshanta is the thirteenth of the sixteen saṃskāras (sacraments) practiced by the Hindus. This saṃskāra is connected with the first shaving of a student's beard when his age is about 16 years. The procedure of this saṃskāra is almost the same as that of the Chudakarana. This saṃskāra was also known as the Godana or the Godanakarman, as the student offered a cow to the teacher at the end of the ceremony. According to the Manusmriti (II.65), this saṃskāra should be performed for a Brahmin in the sixteenth year, for a Kshatriya in the twenty-second year and for a Vaishya in the twenty-fourth year.

The Komati is a trading community found primarily in southern and central India, that is currently organised as a caste. The members of the Komati caste are commonly engaged in banking, money lending and other business pursuits. The community consists of many sects who are followers of Hinduism, namely the Gomata or Gauda, the Thrivarnika (Trivarṇika) and the Kalinga (Kaliṅga), along with the Jaina Komatis who are followers of Jainism. Traditionally, most Komatis have been vegetarian due to ahimsa (nonviolence).

Mathur Shiva Temple is a Hindu temple located in Kunnamkulam of Thrissur District of India. It is believed that the Siva linga is Rudrakshasila which is irregular in shape, red in colour and is untouched by the human sculptor. The presiding deity of the temple is Shiva located in main Sanctum Sanctorum, facing West and Lord Parvathi located in same Sanctum Sanatorium, facing East.
