Meroptera cviatella, the poplar bud borer moth, is a species of snout moth in the genus Meroptera . It was described by Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1905 and is known from North America, including Illinois, Colorado, Iowa, Oklahoma and Quebec. [1]
The wingspan is 22–25 mm. The basal space, costa and inner margin of the wing are broadly bright reddish brown, while the center beyond the base is purplish gray. [2]
The larvae feed on the buds of Populus species.
