Michele Meyer is an American politician from Maine. Meyer, a Democrat from Eliot, has served in the Maine House of Representatives since 2019.

Meyer was elected in the 2018 election. She represents District 2, which contains the towns of Eliot, Kittery and South Berwick. [1]

Meyer endorsed Amy Klobuchar's presidential campaign in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries. [2]

Meyer has supported the investment into cannabis industry jobs in her district. [3]

Meyer advocated for community engagement alongside social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic in Maine. [4]

State Route 236 (SR 236) is a state highway located in extreme southern Maine, entirely within York County. It begins at State Route 103 in Kittery and runs 15.72 miles (25.30 km) north, terminating at State Route 9 in Berwick. Between Kittery and South Berwick, SR 236 is known as the Harold L. Dow Highway. The highway runs roughly parallel to the New Hampshire border over its entire length.

Mark W. Lawrence is an American lawyer and Democratic politician currently serving in the Maine Senate. Lawrence represents Senate District 35, comprising the towns of Eliot, Kittery, Ogunquit, South Berwick, York and part of Berwick. Lawrence was born in Kittery and attended Bowdoin College and the University of Maine School of Law where he was elected to his first term in the Maine House of Representatives. He has served a total of three terms in the Maine House and is serving his sixth nonconsecutive term in the Maine Senate, where he served as president from 1996 to 2000. Lawrence was the 2000 Democratic United States Senate nominee, challenging incumbent Olympia Snowe, and in 2008 he unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for Maine's 1st congressional district. Lawrence pursued private law practice for 14 years before becoming the York County District Attorney from 2003 to 2010. In 2010, he returned to private practice and operates the Lawrence Law Firm out of Kittery.

The 2014 Maine gubernatorial election took place on November 4, 2014 to elect the governor of Maine. Incumbent Republican governor Paul LePage won re-election to a second term, defeating Democratic nominee Mike Michaud, the U.S. representative from Maine's 2nd congressional district, and independent Eliot Cutler, an attorney and second-place finisher from the 2010 gubernatorial election. This is currently the most recent election that Maine elected a Republican governor. Primary elections were held on June 10, 2014.

The elections coincided with the elections of other offices, including a gubernatorial election, other elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the United States Senate, and various state and local elections.

Punkintown, once known as Emerytown, Emery Town, or Emeryville, was a village situated at the corners of South Berwick, Eliot, and York, Maine from the 1800s through the early 1900s. At its peak, between seven and ten families gave the small town its population of somewhere between 30 and 40 people. The families operated sawmills, a granite quarry, and a gristmill. Its main water source was York Pond, which bordered the village to the north. The town was located on a main road connecting Dover, NH to York, ME. To this day, this part of Eliot is still referred to as the "Punkintown section."

Alden Rowing manufactures sliding-seat rowing boats. Their original product, the Alden Ocean Shell, was designed in 1970 or 1971. Traditional shell designs use high aspect ratio hulls, with long waterline with minimum beam, that emphasize racing performance at the cost of stability. These types of boats are only usable on flat water. Alden, however, specializes in shorter, beamier, highly stable designs which are suitable for rowing in open water, where swells are commonly encountered. As of 2004, Alden had sold 25,000 shells.
