Band member Daddy X stated that Cloud Nine is the "most adventurous" Kottonmouth Kings album release to date. Cloud Nine features artists such as Tech N9ne, the Insane Clown Posse, and Cypress Hill. It includes a bonus DVD containing videos for the songs "City 2 City", "Livin' Proof", "Think 4 Yourself", and others that not only include the Kottonmouth Kings, but also that of their newly signed labelmates. The album title was thought up by band member Pakelika. It is meant to show that it is their ninth official album and also referred to the so-called "greatness of being high with the heavens".

Suburban Noize Records, also known as "Subnoize", is an independent record label based in Burbank, California that specializes in punk rock and hip hop music. The label was founded in 1997 by the Kottonmouth Kings' vocalist Daddy X and later ran by Kevin Zinger.

Production was handled by Mike Kumagai, P-Nice, and member Daddy X, who also served as executive producer together with Kevin Zinger. It features guest appearances from BJ Smith, Brother J, Tech N9NE, Sky Blue and The Dirtball, as well as contributions from Ryan Fatal, Eddie Tatar, Joe Tatar, Aaron Abeyta, Ronnie King, P Bass and Ernie Longoria.
DJ Muggs vs. Ill Bill: Kill Devil Hills is a collaborative studio album by American Los Angeles-based record producer DJ Muggs and New York-based rapper Ill Bill. It was released on August 31, 2010 via Fat Beats, serving as Muggs' third album in his "DJ Muggs vs." series. Production was handled by DJ Muggs, except for two track produced by G. Rocka and DJ Khalil. It features guest appearances from B-Real, Sick Jacken, Chace Infinite, Everlast, O.C., Q-Unique, Raekwon, Slaine, Sean Price, Vinnie Paz and Uncle Howie. The album peaked at number 100 on the Top Album Sales, number 17 on the Independent Albums and number 8 on the Top Rap Albums chart in the United States.
