The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados is a key Barbadian government agency responsible for regulating, maintaining, and developing Barbados's external relations and the nature of trading with foreign countries. The Ministry is also responsible for the country's representation at the United Nations and advises other Ministries and State authorities when the latter have dealings with foreign governments or institutions. It is based on Culloden Road, in the nation's capital Bridgetown.

Diplomatic relations between Canada and Barbados date back to 1907, when the Government of Canada opened a Trade Commissioner Service to the Caribbean region located in Bridgetown, Barbados. Following Barbadian independence from the United Kingdom in November 1966, the Canadian High Commission was established in Bridgetown, Barbados on 27 September 1973. There is a High Commission of Barbados in Ottawa and a Barbadian Consulate in Toronto. The relationship between both nations today partly falls under the larger gambit of Canada–Caribbean relations. As of 2014 it is estimated that as much as 8% of Canadian foreign investments in Barbados.
Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago formally established diplomatic relations on Barbados' national date of independence, 30 November 1966. Barbados maintains non-resident representation to Port of Spain, and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago maintains non-resident representation to Bridgetown. Both countries are members of many shared organisations, including the Association of Caribbean States, the Commonwealth of Nations, CARICOM, CARIFORUM, and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
Relations between Barbados and China began on 4 September 1967 with Barbados recognizing the People's Republic of China from 30 May 1977, just over one decade after the eastern Caribbean island nation's independence from the United Kingdom.

The regional Australian High Commissioner to Barbados is accredited from Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. Barbados is represented in Australia through its High Commission in Ottawa, (Canada). Barbados maintains an honorary consul and a tourist office in Australia. Barbados and Australia established diplomatic relations on 7 January 1974. Barbados and Germany formally established diplomatic relations on 14 March 1967.
Barbadian–Nigerian relations are foreign relations between Barbados and Nigeria. Barbados and Nigeria formally established diplomatic relations on 24 April 1970. Nigeria is accredited to Barbados from its high commission in Port of Spain,. Currently the Barbadian Government does not have foreign accreditation for Nigeria, however the Nigerian Government has said that it was highly desirous of Barbados establishing a high commission directly in Nigeria.
Foreign relations between Barbados and Japan were formally established on 29 August 1967. Japan is accredited to Barbados from its embassy in Bridgetown (Barbados) and an honorary consulate in the parish of Saint George. Barbados is represented in Japan through a non-resident ambassador in Bridgetown. Japan's new Ambassador for Barbados, Mitsuhiko Okada had announced a new direct embassy to Barbados would be established located in Bridgetown in February 2016.
The Embassy of Barbados in Washington, D.C. is the primary diplomatic mission of Barbados to the United States of America, and the Organisation of American States (OAS). It is maintained by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Barbados. The present Ambassador is Noel Anderson Lynch, appointed on October 1, 2018, who replaced Selwin Charles Hart.

Barbados–Israel relations are the bilateral relations between Barbados and the State of Israel. Barbados has a consul who resides in Tel Aviv and Israel has an honorary consul who resides in Bridgetown. In addition, the Israeli ambassador for the Caribbean area, Itai Bardov איתי בר-דב, resides in Panama and is accredited for Barbados, and the Barbadian ambassador to London is accredited for Israel.
Chad Blackman born in October 1982, is a Barbadian politician and former diplomat. He was appointed to the Senate of Barbados by the Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley, as well as Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment on January 8, 2024. He served as the Senior Advisor to the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, H.E Gilbert Houngbo until January 7, 2024 and was Barbados' Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Geneva, Vienna, and Rome, and former Ambassador to Switzerland, Austria, Serbia and Hungary. As Ambassador, he was President of the G77 and China Geneva Chapter; Co-ordinator of the Group of Small Island Developing States; Co-ordinator of the Group of Latin-America and Caribbean Countries GRULAC, and was a Global Board Member of the United Nations International Gender Champions. Blackman is also an international trade law specialist. Within the Cabinet of the ILO, he has responsibility for Latin-America & The Caribbean, the African Region, the United Nations, and external relations and corporate services. He has served as the youth development consultant with the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. He served as the chair for the Trade and Development, and Trade and Environment Committees in the World Trade Organization (WTO). Blackman is also the first Ambassador of Barbados to Serbia. He also Chaired the SIDS Group in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
