The Ministry of Transport of Qatar organizes land and sea transport work, develops and improves transport service. In 2016, the Ministry was merged with the Ministry of Communications, and later in 2021, the Ministry of Transport was separated from the Ministry of Communications. The current minister is Jassim Saif Al Sulaiti. [1] [2] [3]

The Ministry of Transport is responsible for the development and modernization of the infrastructure in order to support the industrial and service sectors. At the level of road transport, the sector continues its efforts to develop improved infrastructure in line with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030. The ministry has allocated 95% of the investments in infrastructure projects to organize road transport with the aim of increasing the length of highways, building bridges and tunnels, enhancing traffic safety.
In the maritime transport sector, the ministry seeks to modernize and develop a system in order to meet the increasing demands at the local and regional levels and keep pace with the international developments in this field. Also, one of the priorities of this sector is to ensure the quality of services and means of maritime transport, the development of ports in the country and the preservation of infrastructure.
At the level of air transport regulation, the ministry achieved success with the approval of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to establish the Doha Aviation Information Region and the Doha Search and Rescue Region based on a proposal submitted by Qatar, which includes the airspace under its sovereignty.
In the public transport sector the ministry has started with the transformation strategy for electric vehicles. During the implementation of the strategy, more than 600 electric charge equipment will be installed in warehouses and bus stations, in addition to the sites of Doha Metro stations and other selected stops to support electric buses used in public transport operations. The economy of Qatar is one of the highest in the world based on GDP per capita, ranking generally among the top ten richest countries on world rankings for 2015 and 2016 data compiled by the World Bank, the United Nations, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The country's economy has grown despite sanctions by its neighbors, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Mainly because the country exports primarily to Japan, South Korea, India and China, making the sanctions effectively redundant as neither Saudi Arabia nor the United Arab Emirates have imposed trading penalties such as tariffs or embargoes on any of these countries for trading with Qatar, or offering incentives such as discounts for their own energy exports to reduce Qatari exports.
Transport in Qatar is primarily centered around the Doha Metropolitan Area (DMA), where approximately 2 million people reside and work. Doha, the capital city, serves as the national hub for government, business, and tourism, but significant development occurs outside the city as part of the government's diversification strategy.
Al Rayyan is the third-largest municipality in the state of Qatar. Its primary settlement is the city of the same name, which occupies the entire eastern section and is a part of the Doha Metropolitan Area. The vast expanse of mostly undeveloped lands in the south-west also falls under the municipality's administration.

Qatar National Vision 2030 is a development plan launched in October 2008 by the General Secretariat for Development Planning in the State of Qatar. The aim of QNV 2030 is to "transform Qatar into an advanced society capable of achieving sustainable development" by 2030. The plan's development goals are divided into four central pillars: economic, social, human, and environmental development. The government seeks to meet development goals by developing a strong bureaucratic framework and implementing strategies to address the challenges presented in human development reports.
Madinat Khalifa South is a north-western district of Qatari capital Doha. It is one of the two sections of Madinat Khalifa, the other being Madinat Khalifa North. The district was constructed in the 1970s by the Emir of Qatar at the time, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, primarily to serve as a residential district for Qatari families. Shortages of affordable housing in the district have fueled illegal construction practices such as constructing additional floors.
