Montcin Verniel Hodge (born 29 September 1987) is an Anguillian cricketer and current member of the Leeward Islands cricket team. [1] [2]

Playing career

After making his Twenty20 debut for Anguilla in 2006, Hodge made his first class cricket debut for the Leeward Islands cricket team in January 2008. [3] [4] [5] In 2013, Hodge was included in the Antigua Hawksbills squad for the inaugural season of the Twenty20 Caribbean Premier League. [6]

In the 2018-19 Regional Four Day Competition, he was the leading run-scorer for the Leeward Islands team, [7] and 2nd highest in the competition, [8] behind only Devon Smith; He scored a career-best 158 that season against Trinidad and Tobago, and followed up with 77 not out in the 2nd innings.

Cricket in the West Indies

Cricket is the most popular sport in the Caribbean. In the sport of cricket, the West Indies is a sporting confederation of fifteen mainly English-speaking Caribbean countries and territories, many of which historically formed the British West Indies. It consists of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States Virgin Islands. The governing body for the confederation is the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), which is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC); beneath the WICB are six territorial governing bodies covering different nations and regions of the confederation. The WICB organises the West Indies cricket team, which represents the confederation in international cricket, as well as administering domestic cricket competitions across the West Indies.

Devon Cuthbert Thomas is a West Indian cricketer from Antigua. A right-hand batsman and wicket keeper, he played only one season for Leeward Islands before being given his One Day International debut on 28 July 2009 against Bangladesh while the first team were involved in a pay dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board. He batted in only one innings, scoring 29* from 32 balls, and took two wickets with his right-arm medium pace bowling.

Antigua and Barbuda national cricket team

A cricket team representing Antigua and Barbuda has been active since the late 1890s. The Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association is a member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association, which itself is a member association of the West Indies Cricket Board, and players from Antigua and Barbuda generally represent the Leeward Islands cricket team at domestic level and the West Indies at international level. The team made its List A debut at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and its Twenty20 debut at the 2006 Stanford 20/20 tournament. As of 2015, the team has played 14 List A matches and four Twenty20 matches. The team captain is Sylvester Joseph, while Ridley Jacobs is the team coach.

Rahkeem Rashawn Shane Cornwall is an Antiguan cricketer. A right-arm off-break bowler, Cornwall has played for Leeward Islands cricket team and featured in the line-up for the Antigua Hawksbills in the Caribbean Premier League. In August 2019, Cricket West Indies named him as the Championship Player of the Year. Later the same month, he made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team. He also set the record for the heaviest cricketer to play Test cricket, weighing more than 140kg. For the Leewards Islands, he is their second highest wicket-taker in both First Class and List A cricket, while only Kieran Powell has scored more than his four List A hundreds for the side.

Miguel Lamar Cummins is a Barbadian cricketer who played eleven One Day Internationals (ODI) and fourteen Test matches for the West Indies. At domestic level, he represents Barbados, and has also played for the Antigua Hawksbills and the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). In October 2019, he signed a Kolpak deal with the English side Middlesex County Cricket Club, ruling him out of international selection.

Jahmar Neville Hamilton is an Anguillan cricketer. He plays as wicket-keeper and is part of the Leeward Islands cricket team. He made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team in August 2019.

Hayden Rashidi Walsh is an Antiguan-American cricketer who has represented both the United States and the West Indies cricket teams in international cricket. He was born in the United States Virgin Islands to an Antiguan father, Hayden Walsh Sr.. He is a left-handed batsman and right-arm leg-spin bowler.

Roston Lamar Chase is a Barbadian cricketer who plays for the West Indies national cricket team and Barbadian national side in domestic. A batting allrounder, he is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off spin bowler. In July 2017, he was named Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year by the West Indies Players' Association.
