Mount Brigham is an 11,770-foot-elevation (3,587-meter) mountain summit in Piute County, Utah, United States.
Mount Brigham is part of the Tushar Mountains and it is set in Fishlake National Forest. It ranks as the sixth-highest peak in the Tushar Mountains, [3] seventh-highest in the county and 102nd-highest in the state. [1] Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains to the Sevier River via Twomile Creek, Pine Creek, and Cottonwood Creek. [3] Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises 3,770 feet (1,149 meters) above Pine Creek in 1.75 miles (2.8 km). Mount Brigham is named after Robert Yount, nicknamed "Brigham" or "Brig", who prospected in the vicinity of this peak in the 1880s. [4] This mountain's toponym was officially adopted in 1979 by the United States Board on Geographic Names. [2] There are mining claims, a road, and a communications tower on the mountain. The mountain is composed of Miocene Delano Peak Tuff overlaying Oligocene Three Creeks Tuff. [5]
Based on the Köppen climate classification, Mount Brigham is located in a dry summer subarctic climate zone (Köppen Dsc) with cold snowy winters and mild summers. [6]
The Tushar Mountains are the third-highest mountain range in Utah after the Uinta Mountains and the La Sal Range. Located in the Fishlake National Forest, Delano Peak, 12,174 ft NAVD 88, is the highest point in both Beaver and Piute counties and has a prominence of 4,689 ft. Delano Peak is named for Columbus Delano (1809–1896), Secretary of the Interior, during the Grant administration. The Tushars receive an ample amount of snow annually even though they are situated within the rainshadow of the Sierra Nevada range in California and the Snake Range located in Nevada.
Bannock Peak is a 10,329-foot (3,148-metre) mountain summit in the southern section of the Gallatin Range in Yellowstone National Park, in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The peak ranks as the sixth-highest peak in the Gallatin Range. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains west into headwaters of the Gallatin River and east into Panther Creek which is a tributary of the Gardner River. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises nearly 2,000 feet above Panther Creek in one mile (1.6 km). This mountain's toponym was officially adopted in 1897 by the United States Board on Geographic Names.
