Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations

The Mozambique national beach soccer team was created for the 2007 CAF Beach Soccer Championship. They have never qualified from the group stage, only ever registering two wins before the 2021 edition: one against South Africa in 2008 and one on penalties against Libya in 2009.

The Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) is the beach soccer tournament of Africa, organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Launched in 2006, the winners of each edition qualifies for African nations to the upcoming FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

The Portugal national beach soccer team represents Portugal in international beach soccer competitions, and is controlled by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), the governing body for Portuguese football. The team has participated in 19 of the 22 editions of the Beach Soccer World Cup, and its best results are three victories in 2001, 2015, and 2019. Alongside Brazil, Portugal is the only team to have won the world title before and after FIFA assumed the government of beach soccer worldwide. In European competitions, Portugal is record holder of titles.

The 2021 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations was the fourth edition of the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations (BSAFCON), the premier beach soccer championship in Africa contested by men's national teams who are members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Originally organised by Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) under the title FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup CAF qualifier, in 2015, CAF became organisers and began using the BSAFCON title to which the competition was officially renamed the next year. Overall, this was the 10th edition of the event.

The 2022 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations was the fifth edition of the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations (BSAFCON), the premier beach soccer championship in Africa contested by men's national teams who are members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The championship was originally organised by Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) under the title of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup CAF qualifier. The Mauritania national beach soccer team represents Mauritania in international beach soccer competitions and is controlled by the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the governing body for football in Mauritania. The team qualified for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 2024, they finished second in their first participation, which will make their debut at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2025.
