It operates as train number 12051 from CSMT to Madgaon Junction and as train number 12052 in the reverse direction. During monsoon timetable , 12052 will not go in reverse direction due to time clash. So it will rest at Madgaon Junction coming from CSMT and next day that same rake will originate from Madgaon Junction. It is one of the fastest and longest route running Jan Shatabdi train in Konkan Railways and is immensely popular amongst the people travelling to Konkan and Goa. Earlier this train used to originate/terminate at Dadar Terminus in Mumbai.

Route

This train runs via Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim to Madgaon Junction.

Traction

Both trains were hauled by an Ernakulam based WDM-3A twins or WDP-4, GOC WDP-4B or 4D. Currently as Konkan Railways have completed electrification, the train is now hauled by a WCAM3 from Kalyan shed.

The 11019 / 11020 Konark Express was one of the classless Superfast trains introduced by Shri Madhu Dandavate in 1978 as a daily service between (SC) Secunderabad and Bhubaneshwar (BBS). It used to run with train No 2119/2120 and shared rake with the 2101/2102 Minar Superfast Express which used to operate between Secunderabad and Bombay VT. This train initially had the Navy-Blue livery with a white strip above its windows due to this rake sharing arrangement. With increase in demand of an exclusive train between Bombay and Bhubaneshwar, this train was extended up to Bombay VT in 1994 thus ending the rake sharing arrangement between 2101/2102 Minar Express. After extension this train was renumbered as 1019/1020 in 1994. It is one of the oldest trains connecting the eastern and western states of the country. Currently operating as 11019/11020, it connects Mumbai CSMT [formerly Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai (CSTM)] to Bhubaneshwar (BBS).

The Jan Shatabdi Express is a more affordable and economical version of the Shatabdi Express. The word 'Jan' refers to common people. Being an economical version of the Shatabdi Express, it provides the passenger with Air Conditioned Chair Car, Second Class Seating and Unreserved classes. The 22119/22120 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus–Madgaon Junction Tejas Express is one of India's full-AC train fleet introduced by Indian Railways connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Maharashtra and Madgaon Junction in Goa. It is currently being operated with 22119/22120 train numbers on five days a week basis but during monsoon season the train will run thrice a week. The train route was officially extended from Karmali to Madgaon Junction on 1st November 2022. This is the first Tejas express to be equipped with 2 vistadome coaches on each end.
