Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. is the current Governor of Makueni County government,Kenya. He is a member and chair of the Wiper Democratic Movement,Kenya and was elected as the second Senator of Makueni County Government on the WDM-K ticket in a by-election in July 2013,after the demise of his father lawyer Mutula Kilonzo [2] and is currently serving as the second Governor for Makueni county,having been elected in the August 2022 elections. He is married to Anita Mutula and they are blessed with two children
Kilonzo Jnr was born in Nairobi County in the year 1975. He was born to Mutula Kilonzo and his first wife. He is a brother to Kethi Kilonzo and Wanza Kilonzo. [ citation needed ] Since his father remarried,he has stepbrothers:Mutune,Muathi Kilonzo,Michael Musembi,and Musau. For his secondary school education,he studied AT NAIROBI MILIMANI SECONDARY,NAIROBI COUNTY He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Dr. Ambedkar College,Nagpur. [ citation needed ]
In 2013,Mutula Kilonzo Jnr at the Machakos High court,testified in an inquest into his father's death and indicated there was suspicion on lack of reports about the people close to his father and workers he had made contact within the last days before his death. He claimed that a cover-up had been hatched after a postmortem was conducted at the Lee Funeral Home,in a bid to protect the perpetrators. [3] The police,however,ruled out foul play saying that the autopsy conducted revealed that Mutula Kilonzo died of natural causes and had excessive internal bleeding due to the high blood pressure he was suffering as indicated by the internal organs. The police further indicated that they had interviewed all the persons at Mutula's Maanzoni Residence,where he met his death. [4] This was followed by a tough tussle in court between Nduku Kilonzo,Mutula's second wife,and the children about the execution of the late lawyer's will. The will according to Mutula Kilonzo,Nduku Kilonzo and Kilonzo Musembi,his father were the only sole executors of the will,against Nduku's proposal of single-handedly executing herself that the children were against. They finally resorted to solving the dispute out of the courts. [5]
Mutula Kilonzo Jnr is a professional lawyer and a certified public secretary. He serves as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and Supreme Court He is also an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators,Kenya. He began his career as an apprentice in his father's firm,Kilonzo and Company Advocates,in 1995. He became an associate at the firm in 2001. [6]
Mutula Kilonzo Jnr first came to the political limelight in July 2013,after his father,Mutula Kilonzo,passed on while in office and serving as the then-Senator of Makueni County. He was selected as the Wiper Party flag bearer after his sister,lawyer Kethi Kilonzo,who was the initial and first choice to take after their father,was barred by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission from contesting the elections on the grounds that she was not a registered voter,affirmed by a three-judge bench of the High Court of Kenya. [7] He contested in the by-elections that were held thereafter using the Wiper Democratic Movement,Kenya ticket which he won with 163,232 votes,beating Philip Kaloki of the NARK Party,who was second with 9,762 votes,John Harun Mwau of PICK party came third with 6,431 votes,Urbanus Muthoka,who was an independent candidate garnered 517 votes and Jane Kitundu of Labour Party was last with 387 votes. He became an active member of the Coalition For Reforms and Democracy,which the Wiper Democratic Movement Kenya was affiliated to. Kilonzo ran for the second term in August 2017. [10] He won the seat and is currently serving his second term as the Senator of Makueni County. [11]

The Kamba or Akamba people are a Bantu ethnic group who predominantly live in the area of Kenya stretching from Nairobi to Tsavo and north to Embu,in the southern part of the former Eastern Province. This land is called Ukambani and constitutes Makueni County,Kitui County and Machakos County. They also form the second largest ethnic group in 8 counties including Nairobi and Mombasa counties.
Machakos County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya,which came into being because of the devolved system of governance occasioned by the 2010 constitution of Kenya. The country's first administrative headquarters are in Machakos Town,which is the largest town in the county. The county had a population of 1,421,932 as of 2019. The county borders Nairobi and Kiambu counties to the west,Embu to the north,Kitui to the east,Makueni to the south,Kajiado to the south west,and Muranga and Kirinyaga to the north west.

The Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya (WDM-K),formerly Orange Democratic Movement–Kenya (ODM–Kenya),is a political party in Kenya,which originated as a result of the 2005 Kenyan constitutional referendum. The party tends to be more popular among the Kamba people. It is headed by Kalonzo Musyoka,who ran for president in 2007 and served as the vice-president in the Grand Coalition of Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga. He is now a member of the main opposition Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Party.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is an independent regulatory agency that was founded in the year 2011 through the making of the Constitution of Kenya. The Commission is responsible for conducting or supervising referendums and elections to any elective body or office established by the Constitution,and any other elections as prescribed by an Act of Parliament. It was created in a provision of the 2010 constitution and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act. Its mandate includes "the continuous registration of voters and revision of the voter's roll,the delimitation of constituencies and wards,the regulation of political parties process,the settlement of electoral disputes,the registration of candidates for elections,voter education,the facilitation of the observation,monitoring and evaluation of elections,the regulation of money spent by a candidate or party in respect of any election,the development of a code of conduct for candidates and parties,[and] the monitoring of compliance with legislation on nomination of candidates by parties."
John Harun Mwau is a Kenyan businessman and politician. He is the former Member of Parliament for Kilome Constituency. He was the first director of the defunct Kenya Anti-Corruption Authority but was removed after a year when a tribunal ruled that he was unfit to hold the office.
Kivutha Kibwana is a Kenyan politician and human rights activist. He was Minister for Defence,Minister for Environment and a former member of parliament for the Makueni Constituency. Kethi Diana Kilonzo is a Kenyan lawyer,lecturer and accountant. She is the daughter of the late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo and is most notable for her performance as the head counsel for Africa Centre for Open Governance's petition against the declaration of Uhuru Kenyatta as the President of Kenya. Kethi Diana Kilonzo argued against the results announced by IEBC Chairman Isaack Hassan and cited the results as not credible. The petition,which had been filed alongside that of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy,sought to nullify the 2013 election,which the two petitioners claimed to have been altered by the first respondent under the leadership of the second respondent to the advantage of the third and fourth respondents that is the president and deputy president of Kenya,respectively. The petition was heard by a panel of six Supreme Court judges,headed by Willy Mutunga
On 27 April 2013,Kenyan politician and lawyer Mutula Kilonzo,who was serving as the first Senator of Makueni County,died at his ranch in Maanzoni,Machakos County. A requiem mass was held at the Nairobi Baptist Church in Nairobi on 8 May,followed by his burial at his home village in Makueni County,in line with his wishes.

Wavinya Ndeti EGH is a Kenyan politician and a business woman who is serving as the 2nd Governor of Machakos County. She previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Kathiani Constituency in the 10th Kenyan parliament and an assistant minister in the ministry of youth affairs and sport from 2008 to 2013. She was the first woman to be elected as a member of parliament in Machakos county since independence. She was a CCU candidate in 2013 and WDM-K candidate in 2017 for Machakos Governor.
Dr. Julius Makau Malombe,EGH is a Kenyan politician and the first and current elected Governor of Kitui County. He is elected on a Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya (WDM-K) which he won the 2013 elections garnering 163,904 votes. He defended his seat on Wiper ticket in the 2017 general election but lost to Charity Ngilu coming third behind former senator David Musila however he recaptured the seat and won after the 9 August 2022 gubernatorial elections with 198,004 votes defeating former senator David Musila who had 114,606 votes and Jonathan with 10,639 votes. As the pioneer governor of Kitui he is credited with much of the development gains made in the region. On 12 December 2022 Dr. Malombe was awarded the Elder of The Golden Heart by President William Ruto.
General elections were held in Kenya on Tuesday,9 August 2022. Voters elected the president,governors,senators,members of the National Assembly,and members of county assemblies.
