The game received "universal acclaim" according to the review aggregation website GameRankings. [1] Chris Charla of NextGen called it "A visual masterpiece, and a great football game that will, and should, sell systems." [12] In Japan, where the game was ported for release on January 20, 2000, Famitsu gave it a score of 34 out of 40. [5]
The Rookie of GamePro said in one review, "If you own a Dreamcast and love football, you'd be an absolute fool to pass up this game. Even though you won't find a franchise mode in this year's version, NFL 2K is a deep football sim that'll satisfy any pigskin junkie." It comes down to this: Madden is the best playing game in town, with incredible depth and superior football skills, but NFL 2K is the way to go if you're undecided, because the graphics, sound, and sheer fun of the game far surpass Madden and GameDay ." The game was a finalist for the "Console Sports Game of the Year", "Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design", "Outstanding Achievement in Visual Engineering", and "Outstanding Achievement in Game Play Engineering" awards at the AIAS' 3rd Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, all of which went to Knockout Kings 2000 , Medal of Honor , Unreal Tournament , and The Sims , respectively. Virtua Tennis, known in Japan as Power Smash, is a 1999 tennis arcade game created by Sega. The player competes through tennis tournaments in an arcade mode. It was ported to the Dreamcast in 2000, and to Windows in 2002. A Game Boy Advance version was also released in 2002, followed by an N-Gage version in 2003. For the home console market, the game was expanded with the introduction of the campaign mode.
Gauntlet Legends is an arcade game released in 1998 by Atari Games and Midway Games. It is a fantasy themed hack and slash styled dungeon crawl game, a sequel to 1985's popular Gauntlet and 1986's Gauntlet II and marks the final game in the series to be produced by Atari Games. Its unusual features for an arcade game included passwords and characters that could be saved, enabling players to play over the course of a long period.
Speed Busters is a video game developed by Ubisoft's Montreal studio for Microsoft Windows in 1998. It was released for the Dreamcast in 1999 as Speed Devils. It is a racing game in which the courses feature hazards such as dinosaurs rolling boulders, and UFOs in exotic locales including Louisiana, Louisiana Tornado, New York City, New York City Winter, Mexico, Nevada, Aspen Summer, Aspen Winter, Canada, Canada Light Winter, Canada Heavy Winter, Montreal Industrial, Hollywood, and Hollywood Disaster. The console version's career mode allowed the player to rise themselves through the ranks of a fictional racing league. Colourful rivals challenge the player to accomplish certain feats during races, making accompanying bets using prize money from competition. Money earned from gambling and performance is used to buy cars, upgrade them, and maintain them. The game also supports five players on one Dreamcast console.
Dynamite Cop, known in Japan as Dynamite Deka 2, is a 1998 beat 'em up video game published by Sega and initially released in arcades on Sega Model 2 hardware. It is the sequel to the 1996 game Dynamite Deka, which was released outside Japan as Die Hard Arcade. The game was ported to the Dreamcast and released internationally in 1999, this time without the Die Hard license. A second sequel, Asian Dynamite, was released only in arcades.
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing is a boxing video game developed by Midway Studios San Diego, and published by Midway in 1999 for the Dreamcast, PlayStation, Game Boy Color, and Nintendo 64. The success of the Dreamcast version led to it becoming one of the few Sega All Stars titles.
NFL 2K1 is an American football simulation video game that uses remediation, and was published by Sega and developed by Visual Concepts. It was released on Dreamcast on September 7, 2000, with multiple in-game commercialization like its Dreamcast ads in stadiums. Randy Moss of the Minnesota Vikings is featured as the cover athlete. Upon its release, it outsold the PlayStation 2 version of Madden NFL 2001 by 13,000 units in its first week, and 49,000 units its second week.
Sega Rally 2 is an arcade racing game developed by Sega for the Model 3 arcade hardware. It is the sequel to 1994's Sega Rally Championship. The game was first released in arcades in February 1998, and was later ported to the Sega Dreamcast, becoming one of the console's earliest titles when it was released in Japan on January 28, 1999. The Sega Dreamcast version was released in Europe as a launch title on October 14, 1999, and then in North America on November 27. A PC version was released in Japan and Europe that same year, with the North American release following suit in September 2000, where it was published by Mattel Interactive.
Madden NFL 2001 is an American football video game. It is the third in the Madden NFL series to include an NFL player, Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George, on its cover. In addition, it is the first game in the series to have a player, instead of John Madden featured prominently on the box art. Madden's picture is shown on a small logo, which would reappear for every following game until Madden NFL 06. Armed with their fists, feet, and whatever weapons they should find along the way, players are tasked with ridding an unnamed city of zombies. Originally titled Blood Bullet: The House of the Dead Side Story, the game was renamed Zombies Nightmare before Sega decided on the name Zombie Revenge.
Ultimate Fighting Championship is the first video game based on the Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts promotion. It was first developed by Anchor Inc. for the Sega Dreamcast on August 29, 2000, then by Fluid Studios for the Game Boy Color on November 27 the same year, and finally by Opus for the Sony PlayStation on December 1 the same year. All three versions of the game were published by Crave Entertainment in North America, while Ubi Soft published the three versions in Europe and Capcom published the Dreamcast and PlayStation versions in Japan.
