Namdhari Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Bhaini Sahib, Punjab. Part of the multi-sports Namdhari Sports Academy, it competes in the Punjab State Super League. [1] [2] Namdhari FC bid and joined the I-League, [3] current second division of the Indian football league system. [4]

History

Namdhari XI was first formed in 1975. In 2004 the Namdhari Sports Academy was built in Sri Bhaini Sahib, near Ludhiana. With growing interest in football, the Namdharis established its first football academy in 2018. [5] [6]

In their I-League debut season, the club was managed by Spanish tactician Francesc Bonet. [7]

The 12th Guru was Ram Singh (1816–1885), who moved the sects centre to Bhaini Sahib (Ludhiana) and is regarded as the first Indian to use non-cooperation and non-violence boycott in order to combat the British Empire in India.

They also participated in Punjab State Super Football League under licence from Punjab Football Association. The club was disbanded in 2011.

Francesc "Fran" Bonet Caruncho is a Spanish professional football manager who is the head coach of I-League club Churchill Brothers.

The 2023–24 season was the 36th season of Churchill Brothers in existence and fifteenth in the I-League. A new coach for the team, Edgardo Malvestiti, was appointed on 29 July 2023. The club has mutually parted ways with the head coach from Argentina after finding themselves in the bottom half of the I-League midway into the season. Francesc Bonet replaced him in January 2024.
